Steve Davis is from Romford, maybe other snooker players too.
erm, what about 'hasbeens' I could be wrong, (I often am) but isn't Michael Barrymore from Essex, or living somewhere it the 'outbacks' of Essex

Just found this
http://www.bbc.co.uk/essex/features/essex_celeb/index.shtml
It is a BBC site,
but I got a feeling that the digibox might not get to it
but if someone would like to try it ( at your own peril )

Famous people from Basildon could be an entry all by itself. Mina's been there, for a start.
There's musicians - the members of Depeche Mode eg Dave Gahan and Vince Clarke, who went on to be in Eurasure, Alison Moyet (still calling herself Alf when I lived there), Scott from 5. Terry Marsh the boxer and someone must have mentioned Princess Denise. Some West Ham footballers too I think.
If you want to go posh and look in Billericay, then there's Lee Evans the comedian and probably some more West Ham footballers.
Ross Kemp and Martine MacCutcheon and Michael Grecco are from Essex and I bet there are other EE cast members too. Alvin Stardust is from somewhere, Helen Mirren too. Busted are Sarfend based I believe? But what about the great bands from there in the past, eg Dr Feelgood and the Kursal Flyers.

coelacanth... an impressive list with impressive names...
yep.. it seems that the list [with links and all] will have to be in more than one part...
Mina is already our member... hehe... but including her name in the list is not a bad idea at all.. just don't tell her yet... it will be a surprise...
once again...
