Good work anyway Opti... Not easy when it's not one's first language...
I will add some more links on the Help Desk page as soon as possible [i found a way of saving a bit of time while working on/updating an entry ]... they are BBC links so digibox users will be able to access them as well...
Talk soon everyone...

Thank you Loup and Opti for all your kind help.
Loup you will see more postings from me starting next to help me with my French Beginners course as I am a very slow learner and I have very poor comprehension skills.
Loup and Opti I hope you are both keeping well.

Thanks Kat yes I'm well just getting stuck into a scifi romance book that I'm writing Thing is I'm reluctant to develop what I have into several chapters.
I'll keep an eye on here and if I can help with any french I'll give it a shot
good luck ... any particular reason why you are doing this? I hope you are well too

Thanks Opti when I was about 8 I first learnt French and I was very good at it but I left from Ashington, Northumberland to London and had to wait another 2 years before I started learning French again.
In the between time I developed Epilepsy which made learning difficult for me and the French teacher at my school and he was very impatient and did not make allowances or give me any extra help. I hardly got any help at all. If I missed a class I would not be told what I missed. We did not have any text books to refer to. I have always wanted to learn French from when I was a little girl (I used to watch French documentary programmes) but since the age of 8 and half, learning became very difficult for me.

crikey kat I don't know what to say ... except for saying I think its disgusting the way your french teacher behaved around you.
We'll definitely help you to get to grips with french and then you too will be helping those who'd like to learn on here ... actually helping others may well improve your french as you learn yourself
you mention you liked french documentary stuff why not try and get hold of some more, or search the net for french newspapers or get hold of french magazines for children ... i prefer the french teenagers magazines to the ones we english have
sometimes i think its weird that people cannot get to grips with french at all but perhaps thats because of different mind sets or the fact my history tree dates back to french aristocracy ooh la la hey

Thanks Opti for your kindness and help. I loved all things French from a very early age and my most happiest memories were as a child going on holiday to the South of France (mountain area) which I cherish a great deal.

perhaps you should go again to france but this time perhaps meet up with fellow h2g2ers there what do you think?
I've been on 3 french exchanges and been skiing there too I think I'll give France a miss personally perhaps go somewhere else which is french speaking

Opt it could be work out very expensive as I am not employed (I am a full-time carer but do not get much) I would like to go and meet up with other researchers.
I have not done ski-ing but ice skating.

you mean you haven't met other researchers already? I'm surprised I thought you'd have gone to the summer meet and everything
If only money didn't exist hey then we could go to france for free (alliteration )
ice skating is I may well be doing that with fellow h2g2ers come november

I am the worst ice-skater in the world!
I've been learning French for 6 years now... if you're good, they like you, but any problems then they seem to ignore you... I hope we can help you fulfil a dream
I still haven't been to France...

Opti I have been to the meets in London but not in France.
I remember when I was a teenager putting on training braces (SE London ski rink) and how many times I fell before I was able to skate upright.
