Loup Dargent Posted Sep 24, 2003
"of course" is unfortunately not "de corse" but is "bien sur"....
"de corse" would be translated as "of/from corsica"... like Napoleon in a way...
Oh and as you might have noticed i'm [kinda] back <./>online</.>... Don't know for how long though... and i won't say here what happened with my PC as the laughter from the lurkers would make it impossible to hear what we are saying...
Je suis de France mais j'habite Southend-sur-Mer....
[I am from france but i live in Southend-on-Sea...]
Got some interesting stuff from my tutoring last monday... Will post some relatively soon...
I've used some of the links i'm supposed to add to the HelpDesk page and we had some interesting surprises... Considering that they are BBC links, a lot of translations were not up to scratch... But, if that provides us with some stuff for discussions on here that's a good thing in a way...
The main point being that if mistakes are made by the BBC writers in their French course pages, then nobody should worry about making mistakes on here... and, as i said before [or i think i said] any clarification/question is welcome... It helps all of us and that includes [i hope] the lurkers...
Does anyone want more French nursery songs [in French]?!... I'll try to find back the website i surfed a while ago if anyone is interested....
all the best everyone...
Talk soon... a bientot [see you soon]...
loup
Oh, i almost forgot: for everyone's efforts...

Loup Dargent Posted Sep 24, 2003
Au fait, on dit "okay" aussi en France... mais "d'accord" est mieux...
[By the way, we say "okay" as well in France... but "d'accord" is better...]
Now, having said that, i'm not sure if we spell it "ok" or "okay"... and that was in my days [as in: quite a long time ago ]...
A bientot [see you soon]...

Salut
I want to join in please! O level French followed by many years singing in French (we're talking the likes of Verlaine, not terribly appropriate for today but still...). So I understand a lot but am terribly nervous about using it myself.
Comme Mmelle Kat, je suis ecossaise. (It's the Auld Alliance, alive and kicking!)

Hi all,
I think a good way to say what you wanted in French would be, 'Je suis débutant(e) en français. Je n'ai eu que 2 leçons.
although if you don't fancy that past tense, you use:
'Blah, blah... - 2 leçons seulement.'
Bonne soirée à tous
