Ironman Frankfurt is the German city that hosts the annual Ironman event. The cycling route goes through the area where I live, so all roads are closed for traffic and we can't go anywhere during the event. It is like being in a trap, really. No visitor can get to us, either. It is an inconvenience which has affected us for nearly every year now. Today, Z had to go to the main station. No buses were going there, but the underground was not affected. I walked with him the two miles to the underground station, then the two miles back. It was good exercise, and conveniently, it stopped raining shortly after we had started our walk. The weekend had been lovely, and I'll write more next week. But here I am, whining about a mere inconvenience, while many people are grieving the loss of dear ones after the atrocious act of terrorism in Norway. My heart and thoughts go out to all the people in this wonderful country. I'm at a loss for words to describe just how I feel. But on to other things: In case you haven't voted yet, or nominated your favourite Showcase entries, you'll find the relevant links in the Community section of this issue. Make sure you send your vote in today, the deadline is 5pm London time. The other day I came across a totally fascinating article by Mudhooks, and fortunately she agreed to us publishing it here. I'm not sure, but I think we can welcome a new Post novice. And I forgot to mention last week that cactuscafe and Vestboy earned their Post Badges, which now adorn their personal spaces. Congratulations! |
