It may not be a famous line, but what about a(n) eel/tentacle/vine/killer plant, etc. wrapping around someone's leg to pull them over/under? I noticed this one last week.

We Americans don't find as many excuses to watch it.

Well..what is a holiday season without *The Great Escape* and *A Bridge too Far* or *Bridge Over the River Kwai*?? We have to endure them year in year out!

Oh yeah... in Britain there aren't as many channels, now are there? Well, that would sort of restrict viewing a bit.

I wouldn't mind being restricted from THAT... they can deprive and starve me from that anytime.

Anyway, there's always the classic "it's made from a [substance] not of this earth (usually after a quick glance through thick spectacles)

Cliched situations:

Someone turns on the news on a radio or TV... and the story being broadcast JUST at that moment has direct relevance to the film.

Someone wakes from a nightmare... by sitting bolt upright and facing the camera... no one wakes up like this in real life.

When a character is on the phone, and the other person hangs up or is cut off, they pull away and LOOK at the receiver in surprise.

"You just don't get it, do you?"

Regarding TV news items...

Person bursts into the room. 'Quick! You'd better see this.'

Cast rush into another room. There is a TV there. A news item relevant to the plot is invariably JUST STARTING.

How did the person that told them that it was on know it was about to start?

Horror movies: "I'll be back in no time"
(OK, that gag was also mentioned in the Scream trilogy, but hey, is it copyrighted?)
