Ooh and that reminds me - I had a little red Mazda sports car years ago with a license plate that said "Little Red Rice Rocket".

Batty, me too! More 'burgundy' as far as I was concerned.
Was yours a Spyder too<?>
Once when I was rushing to get to my PC (at that mo)the State Patrolman pulled me over. I was only doing 120mph...it's not as if I was pushing the engine. Men. He was yelling & spitting & had no sense of humor &...*whispers...*i don't think he liked girls as I *actually*
got a ticket!I'd always wondered what one actually looked like.
Those fella's awlays let me off.
People would tell me they thought they'd seen a red streak & figured it was me off to w*rk.
When I dream I'm in a car...It's always my Mazda
If only that car could talk!
I'd have had to have it crushed or sumthin'!
Batty? Where do old Mazads go<?>
?
?
?

As per the conversation. at the biker bar down at the cross roads: anything not American is a 'rice grinder'. With the cost of petrol what it is I wish I could poor rice into the tank.
I have a new Grand Prix...it gets about a kabillion mile to the gal.!
Someone filled the tank for me a couple days after I got it on the 13th of Oct. ...I've been to the Lake & all over & still have over 1/2
a tank....*now hoping the gauge w*rks...*

There are/were three types ofs that I know of.
Mines was printed along the doors...in a yellow flame/type of design.
I was w*rking my my head shoppe/wine shoppe when my father came in & said, "I saw a car that looks just like you! You have to go buy it!"
So, I did. Best danged car I've ever abused! Second hand too!
Oh, the sound of the 'whrrrrr' going up-hill...
The back had enough room for a couple people to lie down. like if you got tired or sumthin'.
I managed to get TWO peacock chairs as well as my doberman into the back of it once! 50 miles from my house! The guy on the loading dock
rpeatedly offered to bring the chairs by in his truck. Naw...mama always said I could shove ten lbs of s*** into a five lb bag!
I loved that car.
I took out SOOOOO many loans on it. One vacation after another! I know I borrowed well over twenty grand on that car!
Borrow a few thou...travel...work, the note would come due...I'd pay it off, borrow more...do it all over again! I loved that car.

Spyder is a generic term, a lot of manufacturers produce them I think Alfa Romeo may have been the first.
I very nearly bought a Mazda MX5 this summer, but the convertable I got instead came with a bucket load of stuff as standard as well as two back seats and room to get plenty of by products from a good retail therapy session in the boot (trunk). Also it has a bigger engine
Harleys are not the ideal bikes for UK roads as they tend not to handle too well on our twisty turning roads, fine on motorways and most major roads. There are alot of them around though, but Ducati are still king to most of those I know who own bikes, unless it was a classic Triumph (I suppose they all are now) or a Hesketh.

It's not practical for me to have more than one
vehicle, and that one vehicle has got to provide shelter
from cold, heat, and precipitation. Okay, I know some
motorcycles have great gas mileage, but I never drive
gas-guzzlers anyway.

Cars are nice. I need to learn to drive.

Good luck.
Having a car means there's another mouth to feed,
but soon you'll wonder how you ever managed
without one.

I find it preferable to getting absolutely soaked, and only being able to transport what you can carry on your back.

I couldn't live without my car. One 14 month old kid, one 3 week old one, a double pushchair and a post-caesarian missus. Though parking in my road is a nightmare.
1) We buy fuel in litres but the price is shown in litres and gallons
2) It's called a manual, not stick
3) Reversing into a parking space, onto your drive or parallel parking, or so I'm told, is almost non-existent in the US. Can you confirm?
Liam.

That would be interesting to find out indeed...

I've done all three, so it's not all that
uncommon. If parallel parking spots are
the only ones that are available, those are
the ones you have to use if you want to park.

I rather like the slope on that last post, Paul. With the lines gradually getting longer.

Hypatia Posted Nov 13, 2003
We don't reverse...we back up or back in.
Parallel parking is a pain, but we all know how to do it. Sheesh.

I'm perilously close to ranting about
having to park between two vans/SUVs
that block my view of oncoming cars when
I need to pull out of my parking space.
But I will try to restrain myself, as this is a
family thread.

Braille parking? I suppose that's like parking by "the sight and sound method" - reverse until you can't see anymore - then listen!
Out here we call Harley Davidsons "converters"
They convert petrol(gasoline)into NOISE!

Ahem, Paul....this is Pandora's thread. Nothing Pan does qualifies for the family hour.
And I totally agree. They should have separate parking for cars and trucks/vans/suv's. And it hacks me off when I'm stopped at a corner to make a right turn and some idiot in a truck or suv pulls up beside me to make a left turn and blocks my vision. I creep forward so I can see around him, and he creeps forward to block my vision again. Inconsiderate jerks!

Batty_ACE Posted Nov 15, 2003
I have to admit I prefer SUVs but I am also one of those rare considerate ones that will make a point of hanging back a bit so people can see around it.
What do you mean this isn't a family thread??? While Pan isn't exactly the "family" type I understand she practices planting one as much as humanly possible...
