Is it time for a shake up ???

Researchers who know me from old will know I and other researchers helped shape the early h2g2 and by inviting me back, I am not likely to just to sit & smiley - clown around.

In my opinion: Although the BBC were hailed as savours, (which they were), they managed to stiffle all that was good about hootoo and let it fall behind the times. Even the BBC Hub has fallen into dis-repair.

Thank goodness to some enterprising Researchers saved the site and brought it home where it belongs. With the Pliny skin rushed through, it was released for legal and tech reasons without having time for comprehensive testing.

Now is the time for all reserchers to come to their aid. Report all the bugs you find to the New Towers to view and digest. Not just Pliny but all skins where you find a problem as one skin can affect another at times because they all use the same database in some areas...

Ideas are being formulated

I have a number of ideas being formulated to help h2g2 step into the 21st century - some I hope will be taken up by The New Towers.

Perhaps one would be to recruit more Tech guys/gals to volunteer their help as the strain at the top is showing up with the present volunteer Techies.

New Page Creator Released

Little known, Pastey has introduced a new GuideML creator. Create GuidleML with no knowledge of HTML or XML. At this time it is only available on the Pliny and the Brunel Skin.

Experiment

Experiment by creating a new guide entry to get used to it. When editing, change the style from Plain Text to GuideML,Click on preview in Pliny or Brunel and the little boxes will appear on top of the editor.

Try it but do return to your favourite skin before you update the page.
