A new twist to services
Posted Mar 25, 2008
We live less than a five minute drive from J28 of the M1 and it is a road we travel frequently.
There is some kind of chapel en route; and for the first time today, I noticed the large sign outside which reads: Last services before M1.

Missing but not lost!
Posted Mar 3, 2008
On Wednesday of this week, I am changing my broadband service provider. Having been assured of a smooth changeover, I am immediately certain that there will be problems!
So! If I am not around for a while you will all know why

Poor Old Harry
Posted Feb 8, 2008
SS has recently been de-frosting cheapo prawns in the microwave for Harry's daily treat. Intelligent little so and so now sits and watches his prawns going round and round when they have come out of that 'large white box' and when there are five pings, he knows they are ready.
Today, I am cooking sea bass for dinner; and needed to melt some butter for the sauce. So! I put it in the microwave - then began to wonder why Harry was stalking round the kitchen yelling his head off. Then the light dawned and I fell about laughing - he obviously associates the microwave with his treats; and we had to de-frost extra to get rid of the noise.

Will I never learn?
Posted Nov 14, 2007
I have been on wonderful terms with my next door neighbour for over 20 years; but that is all about to go belly up!!
For those of you who have read earlier epistles, you will (particularly Rich and WS) remember the bats. We have enjoyed watching them for some years as they happily emerge from an air vent in next doors bedroom wall.
Now! they are having repairs done and the builders have discovered asbestos in the roof tiles. Up scaffolding today, one shouted to me that I might like to take my washing in as he was going to create a load of mess and dust. As a light hearted comment, I said "try not to wake the bats" That did it! He immediately downed tools and said he couldn't carry on with the job as it was illegal to disturb them (I already knew this).
Oh dear - now we wait for the acrimonious words to flow and then hopefully for the dust to settle.
SS thinks it is one huge joke and made some comment about engaging brain before opening mouth!

I've forgotten which thread has recently been discussing the terracotta army. However, I have noticed that there is a programme dedicated to it tonight between 8 and 9 on Beeb 2
