Now what am I going to do?
Posted May 1, 2007
I haven't got time for this Having got totally fed up with the triffid type rhubarb in the garden, I've cut masses of the damned stuff out and Was in the middle of making loads of rhubarb crumble for the freezer.
Now I'm decamped in the lounge 'cos a wasp is in there and I'm terrified of wasps. SS is away and number one Daughter is at work.
Why oh why did I have the back door open? I should have known something horrid would smell the fruit!

out of the mouths of babes and sucklings
Posted Mar 28, 2007
As I am having a moment, I have just remembered an incident from when number one Daughter was somewhere around two/three years old and sitting in one of those seats in a T**co trolley.
We went to the deli counter and awaited our turn behind a rather brash woman who wanted loads of stuff: a quarter of ham, a quarter of beef, half a pound of cheese, some pasties etc etc etc;
When she had finally finished; and was about to leave the counter, my Daughter piped up in that childish voice which carries for at least half the store: "MUMMY? - that lady asked for ALL those things; and she didn't ONCE say Please!!"
Said 'lady' glared at me and I responded to Daughter by saying " no sweetheart; but not everyone has good manners" Aforesaid 'lady' was laughed at by several other shoppers and left the area quite swiftly.
I often wonder if she changed because of the incident.

In the heat of the night
Posted Mar 8, 2007
Tomorrow (Friday) night, the original of the above film is on (bet I can't advertise the channel, so I won't in case it gets ed); at 10:05.
I've seen it several times (cos I love it) and for years one particular track has been driving me mad as I don't know what it is. So! if anybody happens to watch it, please listen to the juke box in the café, when the guy behind the counter uses a knife to select his favourite.
