Sounds suspiciously like something the greetings card people dreamed up.
Having said that, there is a chap somewhere in England who celebrates it
every day.

It may just be lack of energy. He never has to put up the Christmas decorations, tree, etc., nor take them down. If he sends out presents and/or greeting cards every day, he's probably got them automated by now, and benefits from exocomies of scale. But probably there is no one to send them to, as he is the only one celebrating, so he probably does send them except the one day a year when everyone else is doing so.

That should have been:
He probably doesn't send them except the one day a year when everyone else is doing it.

Perhaps there's a national day of thinking that we haven't heard about.
A day when everyone stops and thinks deep thoughts.
I think I'm in a well.

"the one day a year when everyone is doing what, exactly?" [Pierce]
Legend has it that on December 25 every year, a small corpulent humanoid squeezes his bulk down half a billion chimneys worldwide so that he can deposit wrapped gifts beneath a tree-shaped object. This is a very silly legend, but no sillier than the alternative legend about three Oriental chieftains who travelled thousands of miles in just twelve days' time, so as to bring perfume to a baby.
There are other legends about December 25, including the birth of Krishna, who very likely had a colorful backstory as well.
So, depending on which legend you believe in, you may spend that day jumping down chimneys, bring perfume to babies in distant lands, or join the Hare Krishna cult.
I hope this clears everyhting up.

Gravy is only clear if you're (a.) out of your mind, or (b.) capable of Xray vision.

I'm glad of my x-ray vision then.
Does anyone else think the song Feed the World (Do You Think They Know It's Christmas? in my mind) is appauling and patronising? Any discussion of Christmas brings it to the front of my mind.

I don't think I've heard that one. Nor do I want to.
Christmas songs are part of the survival shell that one puts on so as to get through the season in one piece. I rather like the music that accompanies the girl who dances with nutcrackers and princes. The "Messiah" is nice, too, though it was designed as an Easter piece.
