Again

I stood and
Up and down

The street I vent
Myself to free the feeling

After freeling
To calm
Be for the storm
Which I was to keep me warm

But through the glasses you wear from time to time
- Of course without any of it being mine -
But yes a mine it was. I stepped on it.
You look as if you saw
But you don't
You did, I see!

"Ghazal XII" - Mirza Ghalib

I am not a flower of song
nor any of the bright shuttles of music
I am the sound of my own breaking

You think of how your hair looks
I think of the end of things

We think we know our own minds
but our hearts are children

Now that you have appeared to me I bow
may you be blessed

You look after the wretched
no wonder you came
looking for me
