Hey, I'm alive and it's not as bad anymore, had to get it out of my system.
Though, I found an interpretation of a poem (which sounds better than the poem (translation) itself...). It reads (in part) (translation by me):
"The posessed lover impaled his bloody liver at (on?) all thorns of the desert through which he stumbles; they look like rose bushes and to water them and keep them alive he needs his tears."
Scaringly beautiful image, innit?
Thanks.

Er. Excuse me. Hi.
Which language was that poem in, originally?
I'd like to imagine/read it as it was written.
Thanks.
PS. Barren? Really? I know how the rest of those feel like, but not barren.

The original language is English. Strange but true. As I started writing to release tension when I was in Australia, English seemed to be the language to do it.
Poem? Hm, not sure. I personally would not qualify it as such, but I guess one could. Just the words that swept through me that night. Putting them on paper puts them out of the system, at least in part.

Aah. I am now enlightened. I thought you'd heard/read it in some other language and translated it into English. I get the impression it would also be great in Latin. Or perhaps Arabic, or something. I'll have to think about that, if that's ok with you.
I know what you mean. Unfortunately, I can't write my feelings too often, 'cause my friends find them and get really worried - no matter how well I hide the paper. I fact, that happened to me on Monday. I got kidnapped and taken to the bush for the night as a result 'cause they didn't want to leave me alone.
Yay for true friends?

Latin, now, there's a thought. Let's see whether I can find some translations:
Hollow --- cavus
Frail --- ?
Empty --- vacuus
Weak --- aeger
Void --- inanis
...
Hm, maybe Arabic would sound better?
Sure. Feel free to think about it. I hope it will prove to be of value. As I said, I don't consider it a poem in my standard terms, but maybe that does not hurt its message. (Pathetic stereotype Goth thing to produce, eh? )
In any case not as good as "Ghazal XII" by Mirza Ghalib (see the other journal entry).
Hm ... wouldn't mind being dragged of to the bush, right now. Just finished a call to Oz. Makes me wonder what I do here. On the other hand I can't see me wearing my beloved blacks in 40°C.
You could always put your feelings down here; assuming your friends don't know about the site. Can't you convince them that there's nothing to worry about?.
YAY! for true friends! What else is there?

It depends how you define poetry:
If poetry is expressing in words those inner thoughts which cannot be expressed by simple prose, then poetry it is.
And what more definition do you need?

Hm, welllll.
The vast majority of the things I wrote which I'd call poems has some connection other than stream-of-conciousness-technique. Some rhyme, and others are connected like the Again -journal entry.
Thus I'd qualify Emptyness under non-poetry
Still, a moot point to argue about.

I've always been fascinated [in that I can't make up my mind more specifically than that] by the idea that art is only art in relation to how it is *viewed*: if it has "meaning" for the viewer, then it's form is (perhaps) unimportant: it is art for that viewer. Admittedly, it may not be art to anyone else (hence a black painting may genuinely *be* art as far as the artist is concerned - although I have doubts in some cases).
In other words, it may not be a poem to everyone, but it's a poem to you, since it has meaning for you, is art for you. As it happens, I feel it is poetry/art for me, too - which perhaps makes it "more" art, perhaps simply "wider" [in audience].

That's pretty much what I think of as art!
Or, slightly modified: If it tells me something or strikes a chord within me I would say it's art. On the other hand, not striking a chord within me would not make it non-art.
There are some paintings of which I can see a point, without actually likeing them.
Thanks, nice to see that some of my stuff appeals to a wider audience ... though it rarely is intended for one.
