I brought a spechul gift as today is really FAT TUESDAY! I brought paczki; which are jam or custard filled doughnuts. They are a traditional Polish 'Fat Tuesday' food. Sorta like pancakes are in other places. Where I come from there is a large Polish community and everyone has sorta got in the habit of eating paczki today.

*passes around large box of assorted paczki*

my favorite is custard flavor...
*chew, swallow, gulp*
Milk anyone?

PS my favorite kitty is my current kitty. her name is brownie [because she is black] and she moved in about 10 years ago. I remember many, many kitties, I think each one was my favorite when they were around. [Sorta like my kids--love 'em all]

Interesting...odd...but interesting.

A sudden thought struck our wandering president dumbfounded and stopped him in his tracks: Was everyday of the week FAT where that big blu dragon came from? He sincerely recalled having had those packzckzkci somewhere else, some other time... he rummaged around in his head for the recollection, but couldn't find it. What he did find lying around on a pile of old movie critics was a single eye, a teddy bear eye. He glanced at the teddy pig he was still holding: it solemnly shook its head. He walked on, smiling apologetically at the anonymous mouse and the Aerol person.

"What, out of curiosity, is going on?" asked Aerol.

The observant, but somewhat forgetful, prez is thinking of some paczki that I dropped off at his place recently.

The reason I had them early is that around here the retail merchants want to capitalize on this ethnic treat, so they begin producing them well before 'Fat Tuesday'. I never could figger out how you would want to buy doughnuts in February and save them till March to eat. But I have a similar problem with Halloween candy in September. I solve these problems by buying them early--and eating 'em early, too.

But today really IS Fat Tuesday, or Shrove Tuesday. Followed by Ash Wednesday. Followed in six weeks, by Easter. If you are of the Christian persuasion, that is.

But they sell packzi to anyone aroung here, regardless of race, creed, or sexual preference.
