Reminder to Self
Posted Mar 30, 2007
I need to get involved in some more one-on-one conversations with people here at h2g2, so as to get rid of the worrying message title of 'Syphilis' amongst my most recent messages. I feel this does not exactly add to the ambience of the page.

Trust in the Force
Posted Mar 30, 2007
Maxi big da Force! Meesa dinkin', meesa not likin' gettin' ready for da game of Star Wars.
I intend to imminently run a session or three of the Star Wars role playing game (by Wizards of the Coast); but, for the life of me, I have never been very good at the transition between reading and doing. I always seem to get myself bogged down in the rules and mechanics, reading and reading and reading until I have no time left to do anything else; or I completely run out of time and drift on to some other project. Now, however, I'm determined to follow my good intentions through to the end and spend some time having some simple roleplaying fun.
Can it be so hard?

Synchronicity
Posted Mar 29, 2007
I found something just now I didn't even realise I'd lost until I found it. I'm reasonably sure I can shoehorn that into the category of synchronicity. I stepped out of my car and noticed a little mobile phone/key fob ornament on the ground - a little, stylised Tigger. I looked down at my keys and realised that this was mine, and I'd lost it at some point without knowing. Freaky to find it. Freaky that I'd not noticed it gone. Freaky that I seem to park in almost the same spot everyday. Freaky that I managed to get the word 'Synchronicity' into a Journal entry...

Annoying Business
Posted Mar 28, 2007
One of my cats has taken to going for a No 2 at 3am in the morning. Admittedly, with the shift to British Summer time, this now falls around 4am... but that, to be honest, is worse. I mean, I have to get up around 6am to get ready and out to work, so waking up at 4am means less than two hours to get back to sleep... and it almost isn't worth it.
How does he wake me? His digging. He digs deep to begin with, does his business and then piles the entire content of the tray on top of it (and across the bathroom floor). Scratch scratch scratch. I have tried earplugs - but if I put them in at bedtime, they have usually worked their way free by 4am. I originally started wearing the ear plugs because my partner had a bad cough and it took her a while to get to sleep - so, the plugs assisted me in getting to sleep in the meantime (selfish, I know... but did I mention I need to be up at 6am?!).
I shall have to find some other solution. Maybe leaving the cat out all night or moving the litter tray somewhere out of ear shot.

Kate Silverton
Posted Mar 27, 2007
I have, as of yet, not decided what I like about Kate. I mean, I know that seeing her in the morning provides ideal eye-candy. She's remarkably easy on the eye - which I consider a good thing at that crack of dawn moment in the day when anything too excessive will more than likely leave you comatose.
Of course, I could be wrong about anything else - I'm certain she has a on-screen persona that doesn't necessarily marry to her real world personality. I'd like to believe she had the same cheery demeanor, with the smiles and the sparkling eyes... but, it can't always be like that.
I saw her reports from Iraq - and you just can't be the same in the middle of a war... you can't maintain that breakfast-time spark. I think I appreciate her for the work she does... as it isn't all sitting around on comfy seats reading the news. She may have done the Oscars, but that probably came as a package after agreeing to spend time in Basra, or wherever they stationed her.
I shall just have to keep watching her and maybe just why I like her will come to me in a flash. It's probably nothing more than lust for the unobtainable! How hormonal of me!
