Hot and Sticky

In the office... it's humid and nasty... I have a Cold that is adding perspiration to the general water content in my vicinity. All is not well...

However, it's only 90-minutes to home time... so I must hold strong until then.

I really must put more consideration into writing up my entry on Peeps. Bluffing Pokemon was the work of an afternoon once I got the skeletal structure of the piece in place on a scrap of note paper. Maybe the block on Peeps is trying to tell me to leave it alone...

Having A Bon Voyage

What is it about the thought of long journeys that makes me feel uncomfortable? I have the funny feeling it has something to do with all those idiots out there on the roads who don't give a monkey's betty swollocks who or what they charge through in pursuit of their objectives.

I have been remarkably consciencious of late because I have my family to worry about in the car with me a lot of the time - however, not every one on the roads has the same thoughts as me. I've seen fathers driving along with one hand, the other clasping a mobile phone, in heavy traffic with babies in the back, oblivious and secured in their booster chairs. Am I thinking strange thoughts here - doesn't that seem terribly wrong?

People need to slow down. I don't mean doing 50 on a motorway - I mean doing the speed limit and a bit. That, for some people, would be slowing down considerably. Rant, rant, ramble, ramble...

Now I feel slightly better. Should set me up for a nice weekend. However, I have to consider that long trip I have to make next week... Bleurgh!

Happy 2001!

The New Year arrives in a shower of fireworks and the wailing scream of an unattended car alarm (why, oh, why, do people even bother with those damn things anymore!). Mind you someone round here saw fit to christen every night with the crackle and bang of fireworks, which they had no doubt picked up from the local Sainsburys (might have to consider sending the supermarket a complaint... I mean, for heavens sakes, fireworks!?!).

The television, for those who have a keen desire to maintain good relationships with their livers and eardrums, is appalling as usual. I don't know... I mean, no one watches the Lottery round here anymore surely - so why base a whole New Year show on the damn theme. Pah!

So, I sit here and watch DVDs with my wife. The rest of the crew have disappeared upstairs having been treated to nibbles and yet another run through Pokemon 2000 (I have to admit I thought it was better the second time around... maybe it's time to update the entry on it). I'm a happy man here... I don't need the music and the alcohol, the clubs and the chaos, the crowds and the madness. Things are good, and I look forward to 2001 with a pleasant uncertainty. What will it hold for me? For us? For everyone? Presumably no Big Black Monoliths?!
