My list includes plants that grow here now. Many of them are here because I planted them.
How many of them will thrive remains to be seen. I'm kind of a beginner at this.....

If I inherit the family compound, I'd love to replace the entire lawn (about a quarter acre) with maintenance free local plants (ie weeds).
There was a house not far away with the entire yard replaced with some sort of covering vine. It just sold and the new owner resodded half of it.

Was the covering weed Jimsonweed?
You could try Blackfoot Daisies, Butterfly weed, various types of Columbine, Coneflowers, Lanceleaf Coreopsis, Texas Firecracker Plant, Blazing Star, Missouri Evening Primrose, various Penstemons and Phloxes, just about any kind of sage, etc.

Some of the plants I mentioned are popular in much of the world.
If they're native to Texas, so much the better.

I'll drink to that
I just told Pandora (born again tart) that since I retired four years ago I have been quietly but steadily working to find back to being the best possible me. No pretence, no commitments, no nothing. Since childhood, school, work, married life and parenting I have never been so free in my life and I intend to keep it that way
