Hi Jim

Englebert Humperdink, now he did have a strong voice.

I remember saying Humperstink, cos i couldn't say Humperdink lol smiley - biggrin
My dad use to have a couple of his records, aswell as other artists.
I just can't seem to recall anymore at the mo, but if i do i will let you know.
I have heard of Eartha Kitt, but i can't recall any of the songs.

hi everyone.
sorry for not being around these past few days, but real life has this habit of taking oversmiley - blue
ive been going over the threads and i want to add my two penny woth.

englebert humperdinck is still alive and kicking. somewhere in america.

a creel is the basket that fishermen use to carry all of their fishing tackle.

a charabanc(spelt right) is ..... a long vehicle with rows of seats looking forward. according to my dictionary. they used to have one at the local bus garage where my partner used to work, they bought it out on bank holidays, but it got too expensive to keep it running.

a portmanteau(spelt right) is ..... an oblong case for carrying clothes, opening like a book with hinges at the back. well thats what the dictionary says. i suppose its one of these big travelling cases that you see the film stars take on cruises in the old films..

a coal house..... we had one on the side of our house when i was a child. my dad blocked up the outside doorway and opened it up in the kitchen to make a pantry. it was the space that was under the stairs.

jim... i still have all of my 45's, lp's, cassettes and now cd's. from about 1959 to the present day. i used to have the old type record player that held up to 8 singles at any one time. but i progreesed to one of these new fangled things that doesnt have all of the wires showing. they made a big fuss in the ads when they invented the record/cassette player/radio. so that there werent all of the wires left lying about.

i think ive caught up..

be back soon..hsmiley - rose
