Hey! with so many good memories here, I think I will just move in
Seriously though, I reckon that them days were the far better than the present, I like watching the old movies just to see how few cars and people were about in those days!
We live life at a slower pace with less stress, and not forgetting, FAR better music, of course

Smudger879n Posted Nov 19, 2003
Yea! I like them old Comedy films as well They were funnier than the some modern efforts at comedy.
Mr. Pastry, didnt he have a TV show of his own??
I suppose the only modern comedy on the radio these days is , Hud Lines on Radio2 on Saturdays!
Not a patch on the old ones like, Navy Lark, Clithero Kid, Ken Dodd and so on
Smudger.

Norman Wisdom is huge in Albania (for some reason, I always thought the humour was very Brittish). There was a programme on discovery about the making of a hit single, they used Norman as a vocalist, and sold it in Albania. Never said if it was a hit tho'

tonemonkey.
albania like norman wisdom films, because of their content.
no sex, no violence, no swearing.
the government has a very strict moral code for what the people are allowed to watch and norman wisdom falls into the right category.
he has travelled to albania to see what all of the fuss was about and he was treated like a god.

hi everyone,
what made the old time comediens, and comedy filmsstars was the simplisity of how they dressed or acted,
take chaplain,he found a cane, hat, and put his shoes on the wrong feet
(but for fun inbtween the film shots)to amuse the crew, and it made him famous.
jerry lewis acted stupid to get laughs, but he was more normal than dean martin, and we cant forget tommy cooper, he didnt get anthing right, but a hat, everything going wrong and
now we,ll remember his style for yrs to come.jim

I think our sense of humour changes as we get older
What I find amzing is, that you always remember something really funny at the most somber moments?
I recall that happening to me when I was at a lfelong friends funeral, mind you he wouldnt have minded, as he always made me laugh

Before my mums funeral I watched one of her favourite films, Blazin saddles, which had me in stitches. Just as she would have loved

our family funerals are brilliant.
the last person to die was an aunt. the crematorium was full and was standing room only with her friends and family. apart from the initial crying as the hearse turned up, there wasnt another tear shed.
my aunt was the life and soul of any party and i have many memories of new year parties that she attended when we were children.
being so young, my brother and i were sent to bed and then allowed down for a few minutes during the evening. she would always sneak up some party food for us when she nipped to the loo.
at the service, many true kind words were said of her. not just the usual placations.
there many hugs and many joyful memories retold and everyone had a good time.
we have the type of family that doesnt meet very often, but everyone turns out for weddings and funerals. the minute we say hello, we talk as if we had spoken to each other the day before.
i love our funerals...

We laughed and told funny and touching stories at my Moms funeral.
More families are changing the way they are handled.
I like the idea. Honoring them and life more than death is a better way in my world.
