What a shame, Blues! I thought everyone putting themselves down as 'possibles' had no problem with the two weekends originally suggested.
So, when will you and SLG be coming then?

Re: accommodation
The original cheap & cheerful pensión has an email address so that everyone can book their own rooms, which seems the easiest way. It's called the Pensión Vergara and you can address the email to Jesús, who speaks English. The cost is 20 euros a person and the bathrooms are shared (outside the room). The email address is: pensió[email protected]
I checked out another inexpensive place this morning and their double rooms with bath (inside room) are about 50 euros. They don't have an email address so bookings can be made by telephone: Hostal Monreal (34) 954 21 41 66. Or else I could make the booking for you, but I may need to give them a credit card number.
For anyone wanting to splash out a bit, this is a lovely place - double rooms cost about 80 euros. http://www.yh-hoteles.com
I took a couple of photos of the first two pensións this morning and will post a link to them once they have finished uploading. All three places are about two minutes away from each other (and also from where we live).

We took photos during our 'park walk' this morning - there and back again. You can see them here (photos 103-138).

Some of them aren't showing at the moment (temporary Fotki glitch) but they should be back soon.
Photos of the Pensión Vergara and Hostal Monreal can be found on page 9 (photos 139-141).

hi FB,
Yes, it's now 'officially' March 24-26, but some people are staying longer than that.

For anyone wanting to see the Parque Maria Luisa (shown in the 'park walk' photos) and the Plaza de España, but who might be pressed for time if only here for the weekend, there are also horse carriage rides from the cathedral that take you through the park and the Plaza de España. They last about an hour and I think cost about 35-40 euros, but if four people share the ride (and cost) it might be a nice Saturday afternoon 'after lunch' option.

Have you booked our room Az? or shall I e mail them? Do you need my real name to do that?

hi Z,
I stopped by the pensión Vergara this morning to book your room but they said they didn't take bookings *that far* in advance. Weird.
You could always try sending an email to Jesús and see what he says (I spoke to his brother who works there but apparently Jesús is the owner). I just thought that since this place has an email address it would be better for you to book your rooms this way so that you also have written confirmation.
I told the brother it might be a group of people staying but I just wanted to book one room for two people for now and he kept going on about me coming back when I knew the exact number of the group . . .
I would only need real names and perhaps a credit card number to book rooms at the Hostal Monreal, as they don't have an email address. Otherwise people could book their own rooms there by telephone.

Hi all!
I just want to say, that I'm still here, but I'm very bad in making decisions, so I don't know exactely wether I come yet. But I think I'd like to come.

I think I've got that from my Omi. She's talking about buying, let's say a new skirt, for one week, then buys it and then brings it back two days later.

I rather talk about it for two weeks, don't buy it and am then sad about it. (of course not skirts or any clothes, but books and such things)
