Mini-meet in Seville?

So what about my lack of proper Spanish? You recommended in another thread that people who don't speak the local language had better stay home - time to dig out those old school books again?

I don't think I ever actually recommended that people who don't speak the local language should stay at home, rather that those who did not bother to learn even a smattering of basic vocabulary and culture ended up looking silly.
In any case, I will be the tour guide and if you learn to count to twenty and learn a bit of food vocabulary you'll be able to show up Noggin, who has lived here for a year already.

I know it was meant more tongue-in-cheek, but you did have a point so I thought I'd ask. - Can one get around ok just using English?
I know how to ask for butter and dead buffallo, and I may be able to count to 25 if I don't confuse it with French

I wish we could come for a visit then, but I think my ex-boss not paying me for a couple of months has us too far behind to catch up by then. Would the invitation still be open in the not-too-distant future?
*wishes she hadn't wasted airfare on those two miserable trips to England in 2003, when she could've visited more pleasant and accomodating hosts*

The "eth eth eth..." ect was from a UK comedy sketch show called "The Fast Show", they had a fictional foriegn news programme called "Channel 9 Neus" which was highly amusing....
I guess you had to be there ,blush>

Where ever I have travelled around the world I have always ofund that people are exeedingly helpfull as long as you make a determined effort to speak the language.
English speakers will usually greet you in english if they think you are trying your best just not much cop, and non english speakers try really hard to "pidgeon" communicate and teach you the lingo.
The only people I ever really see finding things really difficult are those who make no effort whatsoever.

OK, will do - or I will sign up for that Spanish refresher course, now that I have a good reason!

Sounds good to me. Close enough to be exciting and far enough away not to be scary.
Count me as a maybe, please!

Wonderful photos, Az
I've been checking flight prices - and £33 each way + taxes is what BA is offering for bookings made now.

Going out of Heathrow and back in to Gatport
Opodo can do it even cheaper - two return flights for £113.70 - including taxes.

ok, now I'm really here.
March sounds good, it's the begin of the semester so I should not have toooo much to do. We'll see... from todays perspective I'd really like to come.
