I like
To eat crisps
In the sun.
What fun.
O! the crunch
Of my lunch
'Twixt my teeth
And my tongue
Is nought
If not done
In the sun.

I dream of swimming on the living room rug,
Just me and the Boogeyman. Give me a hug!

Banana’s banana’s all wrapped in straw
Breakfast, dinner, tea, eat by the score
Come the morning and what’s in store
Plenty of tissue and dashes for door
Banana’s banana’s all wrapped in straw
Used as bricks, prop up the wall
Keeps the cold out and the warmth in
When I’m hungry, eat out or in
err! ok it's mine

Holidays. Jolly days,
Lots of food and lolly days.
Much good cheer.
Perhaps some beer?
Pause a while.
Crack a smile.
Don't be like a crocodile.
Have some fun.
Hop, skip, jump and run.
Canoodle with your honeybun.
Life can be short.
Play some sport.
Learn the lessons life has taught.
Holiday?
Come what may,
Every day is a holy day.

The Song Of The Widow: Rainer Maria Rilke
In the beginning life was good to me;
it held me warm and gave me courage.
That this is granted all while in their youth,
how could I then have known of this.
I never knew what living was----.
But suddenly it was just year on year,
no more good, no more new, no more wonderful.
Life had been torn in two right down the middle.
What, then, belonged to me; was mine, my own?
Was not even this utter wretchedness
on loan to me by fate?
Fate does not only claim your happiness,
it also wants your pain back and your tears
and buys the ruin as something useless, old.
The daily diminishing of me went on
and after I was emptied fate gave me up
and left me standing there, abandoned.

I cower in the darkness deep.
Goose pimpled flesh, I cannot sleep.
My thoughts are gloom, and dank, and grim.
Fear grips my heart, my bowels spasm.
All hope has gone. They soon will come
With heavy tread to beat of drum.
The gallows wait. The crowd's breath bated,
To see me hang they've gladly waited,
Feet stamping in the dreadful cold.
Well, I'll soon be warm, I'll not grow old.

Compassion
Turn the pages - read the lines
Understand the suffering imposed
Feel compassion for those worse off
A deep awareness with added sympathy
Wanting to do something godly
But being powerless to start
Mortal limitations hamper action
Mother Nature is a cruel dictator
The wisdom of her years seems harsh
Her laws many times are broken
But fundamentally can’t be changed
Just have to flow with the tide for now
Hoping for a sea of change one day to appear
(mine just now)

I sometimes gaze at the bright blue sky
And wonder at life, and feel me a feeling
Of smallness, Though I don't lack in tallness, I
Remind me the sky is not really a ceiling
There's nothing between myself and infinity but
A thin blanket of air and a wet cloud or two;
Beyond that is space, endless space, and only a nut
Would think he was the center of all this to-do.
So I know I am small, but the smallest I'm not
'cause 'endless' goes both ways, out there, and in here.
And now I've a headache, my nerves are all shot.
I'll sit down in this corner, be a mate now, hand me a beer.

A horse trod on my foot one day
I shoved. It wouln't budge
I tempted it with nuts and hay
While my boot sank into sludge.
(it lost interest after 10 minutes & moved away-felt like hours!)

Prof: No takers for cheese ,then? Hows about-
We went round to Mary's house last night
And drank far too much ale and wine
The food was good, the candles bright
Her musical taste was fine
But when Mary brought the cheese out
I knew it was time to go.........
O.K. I know the last line doesn't scan, but I am on my third glass!

The reason that my face has turned so red
The reason that I'm halfway out of bed
Is that my wife has come home two hours early
And caught me in bed with yet another girlie.

To drink just one glass of wine is fine
To drink two could put you in a stew.
Then three or four could lay you on the floor
And six could put you in a fix
then eight could seal your fate
and a dozen or so could bring you plenty of woe
