I am reliably informed that Windows 98, which i am using, is somewhat old in computer terms. Nonetheless, it still seems to work, if rather slowly, so i shall continue to run it into the grave & then see what happens next.
Meanwhile, i am listening to Bon Jovi, so the world is pretty perfect:
"Live while i'm alive & sleep when i'm dead."

Yeah, the old Beast had 98, and toward the end I was having problems, especially loading script-intensive pages, and downloading video.

Yup; no can do videos (apart from BBC clips, is this some sort of Plot?), no can do music downloads, photos unless sent singly as jpeg...ah well, what the hell, i can get onto here, do MSN, recieve emails & usually reply to them...the rest i can live without! It's frustrating when i Google stuff but can't actually watch or listen...but i can send links to others!
Such as this, it's a group Dubman told me about: "Orchestre National de Barbs"...which is some sort of complicated French word play, but the groups is apparently fantastic, musicians from all over the world, heavily percussion based...K might like it maybe?

Did you want me to salvage the extra memory (512 MB RAM) stick from my old Beast before I donate it, and send it to you? Or perhaps the ultimate goal is to hold out till my Wooh can indulge in a newish machine?
That band sounds tres and I'm going to have K check it out when he returns from a brief foray to the record store to pick up some Cabaret Voltaire CDs he'd ordered.

Erm...extra memory sounds like a good idea, Ta'lot; Dubmans cousin, who is a said something about USB key thingy, which i assume that's what that is?
If it's cheap to post, yes please, i can then ask person to do whatever is necessary & hide somewhere whilst they tinker around!

It's not a USB key thingy- I don't have one of those for my home system, just the ones I use for work, and I'd better not give those away, as I didn't pay for 'em.
I've got extra RAM. Ask your to explain or I can send a link to layman's techie info, I s'pose. This is something you'd have to stick inside the Beast. If I can get it out of the old one, I'm sure I can send it, though perhaps via Fed Ex and not the post. I'll look into the options.

Lord help any newbie stumbiling upon this Journal!!!Er, Ram =
yes? So i enlist a Welsh
with wellies to do the jobbie presumably? Better consult Snailrind i think...
Anold, a Discus is presumably not a heavy frisbee but a poissin (not poison, not darts)?
Meanwhile, i am thoroughly enjoying Marvin Gaye Cd, left here by Dubman, who has gone off to watch. In other news; we liberated an abandoned bed from the street, i talked to an abused child
, met Dub's cousin, cooked a curry, moved plants outside, narrowly prevented Yoda from kissing the
& watched a video about lions (again!)...life is somewhat hectic since Christmas....
PC, i would absolutely love to have an MSN convo with you asap, girlie stuff that i won't discuss on here... (At your convenience, natch!)
So: has Spring sprung where "you lot" are? I know Ivan's been mowing his lawn in Oz today...but by my reckoning it's Autumn Down Under? Here in France, we have cherry blossom & daffodils etc..very early.Dunno whether to wear boots & sweaters or Tshirt & sandals!

Spring has not yet sprung in Chicago- it's supposed to snow again tomorrow.
Terri, I've got the day off work tomorrow. I'll sign in to MSN when K leaves for work and will keep an eye out for you. We've got dinner dishes and a bit of laundry to finish up this evening, so I won't log in now.
Cooked a nice lentil soup with barley, kale, and carrots earlier. It was yum. Haven't made a curry in a few weeks. Might do that sometime soon.

Spring hasn't got here yet either no buds on my peach trees or on the apple tree yet ,We are into the coldest driest part of the year at the moment, I will notice it when the sky looking towards China way turns a yellow grey colours thats when their sand emigrates to Japan ,As for Discus yes I was talking about fish again ,I think they are one of the most interesting fish to keep, just a lot of work and a bit expensive too with the water at a higher temp 28c than any other fish.I once went to a specialist shop in Yokohama just to look of course ,they had rare coloured adult breeding pairs of Discus for sale at over 1500,000 yen , that's more than I paid for my imported Triumph bike

Oh Terri, I sincerely doubt that spring will even enter truly 'sprung' status for at least two months yet! We may, if we're very fortunate see some green buds on trees, etc in very late April/early May. It was quite warm today(considering the cold snap of below -40 C we had at the end of January cold enough...y'know, the brass monkey thing!
). I'm sure the mercury/temp. will be up'n'down once or tice in the next month or so...can only wait and see-
& take what comes!

It's still summer here Terri. Autumn officially starts on 1 March, but February and March are usually the hottest months. February's also the month of bushfires, as a rule. (The worst I've seen happened in February 1983. Wednesday 16 February, to be precise. It was Ash Wednesday. I have very vivid memories of that day.) That being said, the last couple of weeks have been reasonably cool; temperatures mostly below 30C. It's as pleasant as it could be at this time of the year.

The first crocuses have been out for over a week here in North Buckinghamshire in the day's warm sunshine. We almost have an early Spring. But it's still frosty and sub-zero temps at night.

Available for MSN for the next two hours or so, Terri. It's 2:30 PM here, so probably 10:30 PM over there. I've got dinner in the oven, and need to sign off by 4:30 my time.

Hi.
This morning my bus almost hit a roo; I'm a bit stiff from the sudden jolt as the driver slammed on the brakes. The roo wasn't physically harmed but I think it might be a little disturbed - but that'll teach it to take a flying leap into the street, surely.

psychocandy-moderation team leader Posted Feb 19, 2008
I've never been on a bus that slammed its brakes to avoid anything... but have been in a car that's avoided a deer. I can imagine what a jolt that'd be. Did the 'roo move? Over here, one usually collides, or nearly misses, at night, and I guess they're "entranced" by the headlights. So they usually don't move.

Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Feb 19, 2008
The roo moved alright - she froze in mid-air, spun herself out of the way, landed and rolled over, then scrambled to her feet (a big job, that - she's not called a macropod for nothing) and bounded to the roadside. That all took about two seconds.

Hiy'all! You will have to excuse typoos since i managed to leave my reading (& computer) specs behind last nitght when Dub & i visited P's place for meal & watching hendrix DVD.
*Timely reminder: make appointment with opthalmologist* sigh*$$$$$
Jeez, jumping 'roos & !!!
When i lived in Middle east, there was a "camel" rule , legal thing.Since camels are valuable, but somewhat foolish, shortsighted, obsitinate & tend to wander around & they are Big.
if a car collides with a camel duiring daylight hours: it is the vehicle drivers fault, he should have seen the camel; he/she pays compensation to the camel owner. if it's at night, the camal shounld have seen the car, or been tethered, the camel owner pays compensation to the car owner." Seems fair enough to me, but since i imagine most deer & 'roos are owned by nobody except Nature...presumably the Insurance Cmpany pays?
I see castro has decided not to carry on. Inevitable. I see USA has decided to issue statements about the future of Cuba. Inevitable. I see Bhutto's Party in Pakistan has decided to ally with former political rivals. Inevitable.
let us pray that transition states don't end up shooting themselves in the foot, or getting shot down in flames by their own or others opportinist opinions. It's bizarre, only last night we were discussing "places we'd lile to see before we die" & Cuba was right on top of the list, along with Ireland "But we'd better be quick, Fidel can't possibly last much longer...the place will change totally, for better or worse: who knows? but it won't be the Cuba we're thinking of now."
PC, sorry i missed yopu on MSN, got invited to P's to eat, very last minute, then stuff happened (which i won't go into on here) & ended up getting home around 6am, consequently have smlept all day! I'm still "in the paté" as they say! No clue as to whether today is still Springlike, haven't even opened the shutters...but yesterday we did transfer the Dreadlock Jasmine outside...Big Job!
It seems South West France so far is getting the Global warming Winter effect, the rest of you seem still to be freezing, poor souls! It's coldish here at night, but not by your standards.

No worries! can't do MSN chat at work- only Yahoo is IT approved- but feel free to shoot me an email and I'll probably have time to respond in between projects.
It's not unbearably cold here- about -9.5°C at the moment, with a forecast low around -18°C. I needed my winter coat today, and a pair of gloves, but it's not bitterly, painfully cold.
While I was riding my train home from work today, I tried picturing a jumping 'roo. Didn't work.
Key: Complain about this post
