Hi everyone! Happy Valentine's Day! It is now officially Valentine's here in Memphis.
I'm planning on taking my car in for an oil change -- how romantic is that? LOL

I'd have sent you some, Mort, if I'd known.
Nothing special planned for Valentine's today, but K and I are planning to go to a movie double feature at a local theater tomorrow night. I can't link to the web site from here, but if you click this link, it should take you to the info: horrorbles.com/catalog/information.php?info_id=7
$10 per person is cheap for a movie, not to mention a double feature *and* an autograph signing by a local celebrity ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svengoolie ). I'm bringing my official Svengoolie rubber chicken to have it signed.

Ooh Mort sighting! And Jazz! And JEllen! And Anold! And PC! And weird horrible films & rubber chickens (???) And mentions!
I had 3 messages drop through my mailbox today; "Yippee!" thought I.
One was from EDF "you owe us 119"
One was from France Telecom "you owe us 48"
One was from Water company "you owe us 49"
Aww, how sweet of them all to drop by on the same day! My response was "EDF can go fiddle for it till next month, they've been given 50 this month. France Tel seem prepared to wait until 26th before they start a new whinge, so my computer won't get cut off until then. The water board kindly mentioned "if you would like to discuss alternative means of paying your bill, please phone, so i did. Condensed version in English below:
"Hello, pardon for the French, ref number is xxxxx ; i'd like to discuss my bill & payment methods please"
"Do you have the last 5 years bills for that address? I need to know how much you use"
"Er, is that info not on your computer?"
"yes, but how do i know it's really you?"
"well, you don't, do you, but let's not get philosophical, i am paying for this call & i doubt a casual burglar would be concerned if the water got cut off"
"Why can't you pay the bill by cheque?"
"i don't have a cheque book, i am on handicapped benefits"
"Well, come to our office & pay cash"
"i can't get to your office, i just told you, i am handicapped & don't have a car"
"Send your mediator then"
"your husband, family, friend, social worker"
"I am single, no family & social w**ker is on holiday"
"Oh dear, life must be very difficult for you!"
"It can be, but i manage. Now: bottom line is i can pay you after the 6th, will that do or do i start filling the bathtub?"
"That will be fine. Have a nice day."
So then i took a nice therapeutic trip to the library & got 4 more s which i've already read. Plus they have a new scheme where i can also take out magazines, the only English one is Newsweek, so i may develop some knowledge of USAnian political issues eventually!
Back home, did more Spring potting outside, aww, at least 4 passers by said how lovely my garden is, one even said "You have the best garden in the whole town"!
Then Dubman dropped by, smelling most vilely of some evil herbal remedy (he has a Man Cold)but at least we are on squeaking terms again. He's managed to find a DVD/CD of Hendrix "Electric Ladyland", so has disappeared off to share this with his best buddy P, poor P,he's same age as me but rather missed out on psychedelia...he is in for a shock!
The remaining seem to be doing OK, Yoda is sighing heavily at not being permitted to tiptoe around the edge of the tank; she just sits & stares with great interest & probably malevolent thoughts...

Hello Terri! I should go to see if the postal carrier(it's been a woman recently)has brought anything. Probably won't be anyone asking for money just yet...and speaking of money, I just did some grocery shopping yesterday. Among other things I bought some very nice 16(partially sprouted)grain bread. That's; sprouted whole wheat, org. sprouted rye, barley, spelt and triticale, org. kamut and amaranth, organic oat flakes, org. flax, org. sunflower seeds(also sesame seeds), org. millet, org. whole brown rice, org. whole corn and organic teff (should know, but that's what Google is for I s'pose). Does seem quite impressive though! Also found an interesting juice blend I have yet to try - mango/melon...sounds promisin, I think.

Ok, teff: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teff or http://www.chetday.com/teff.html ((watch out for pop-ups) Hmm, 'lovegrass'...coincidence that I learn this on Valentine's Day.

Wow, that lot should warm the cockles of your heart, as my Grandma used to say!
Reminds me of the budgerigar joke...
Q: Why do you find so many budgies are high achievers?
A: Because they like to succeed.
