Batty we have a scheme like that here, they're called PAT animals Patient Animal Therapy, it does aid recovery, Mum used to work for an old peoples charity and they used to have a PAT dog come over a couple of times a month and the folks that were at the house she worked in brightend up considerably when they knew the dog was coming, most Old peoples homes have a cat or a bird or something too
