...didn't mean to bring back bad memories...just thought it might be a quick temporary fix...easier to get a cleaning job than to go through the rigmarole involved in signing up with a temping agency...but then it's probably a good time to get on an agenies books - the students have all gone back to uni and lots of people switch jobs in the new year leaving lots of vacancies to be covered.
Searching through websites now for something less cleanery....

I just have memories of butt-ache. Stupid mop.
I suppose it is easier. And less stressful. PQ for reminding me. I suppose not all places treat their cleaners like crap.

Where is hanham compared to where you are? There is a job on Hays website typing out letters for salesmen for £6ph and the only experience they ask for is good spelling and grammer and the ability to write a professional letter (ie use a template and avoid smileys)

And whatever it is it will just be a means to an end. One stop on the journey and all that cr@p. The first major job I had, I spat on the gate when I left and said I would never pass that way again. Haven't either.

If you were in Cardiff I could almost guarantee you job in the same place I work, call centers in general have such a high turnover of staff that they are nearly always recruiting. Mostly because no one likes the job, it does degrade your opinion of humanity but it does pay the bills... and doesn't even require being properly awake to do (this center allows limited web access
)

PQ - I'm pretty sure that is two awkward bus trips away.
cl - I did that last year.
Math - Call centers. No. Scary.

What do you think you could handle then? Would you phone and get on a list, or let someone put you online for work? Most of us could do that. Or even let us give you phone numbers of work opportunities in Bristol?

Maybe you're just not in the mood to think about it - could be hypoglycaemia. Go and eat something or have a hot cup of tea (I don't know what the fuel system of a Saturnine is like). Then watch some mindless TV programme, read a non-intellectual book or listen to an album which always makes you particularly happy in a silly sort of way. Relaxing and laughing really do help. Then you might feel a bit better and able to think about difficult stuff again.

I'm still not well But I might as well force myself to think about it now, rather than avoid it, right?

I was horrified to note that England has more McDonalds per capita than we do (it seemed that way anyway :P) - you could always do that?
I can just see it - Saturnine: "Would you like a black eye with that?"

Being that I have an actual addiction to junk food, I really couldn't work in a fast food place.
Why does everyone perceive me to be such a bitch? I'm not!!!

I agree - I've never thought you were a bitch..well maybe there was one forum or two...oh I'm kidding! But your persona on Hootoo does suggest a bit of assertiveness

You only need to work at a crap job long enough to save a cheap fare to where you want to go and then you can make a move. That's the advantage of temping - you can change jobs if they send you to a really crappy one - no ties.
You just need to stick it for a few months and put together a few quid then you can get your backpack on and disappear to wherever, if you're p****d off where you are, which you seem to be. It's an escape route - is that what you want?
Like somebody said above, there's hootoo people all over the globe who will surely stand you a bed and a buttie for a little while - you've got at least 2 firm offers in this thread (s'okay, I know you don't want to go to Manchester!) You're right, nobody here can help you physically, and if you're ill you won't be able to do much about it (other than plan) until you're better, but that doesn't mean there's no help here. Several people have offered to do research (and I'll add my name to that) and you've got offers of accommodation. There's a start - how about getting a plan together to get yourself over to the States, which you've often said you want to do? Just thinking about it has got to be better than sitting at home feeling miserable.
Well, that was mostly repetitive and probably not that helpful, but it's practical and it's all I have right now.
but I'll say it anyway 'cause I mean it - take it easy!
