Dear Lady Scott,
the only cookies I have are in my head and Icannot get at them. The metallic variety in my computer seem to be functioning. It is just this old biddy that is faltering. Anyway, all is well thanks to you all.

Oh my dear shea,
I so wish that you can be be correct. At the moment I am obliged to type with cotton gloves on because of the cuts and and sorness on my fingers. Also interesting condition about not having neart medication for three months., As I said I had forgotten that I ever had a heart condition. Today was a real stressful day. The young guy who has been redecorating my living room is a dear friend who has problems and whose wife suffers from bi-polar illness.
She phoned me today and told me that she hoped I would have a heart attack and that she would dance on my grave. I was slightly surprised to say the least!!
She then went across to the neighbours who were forced to phone her husband here. He phoned the emergency services and rushed home. Then a doctor phoned me and asked me when her husband had left here. I told him. He then phoned me again and said that he could not speak to the husband - his wife had told him that she had murdered him and put him in the cellar.!!! As she has been pretty violent before I wsas most concerned and rushed over.
To cut a long story short she is now in hospital and I am stuck with some redecorating still to do - not the most serious of problems.!! But what bothers me is what is this going to do to my stress levels and my HBP!! Sore fingers or HPB and angine. Hobsons choice I would say!!.
My spouse used to say that ageing was not for sissies. I wonder if that is an English expression.
Fond to you both.

My dear Also Ran! Firstly, of course, it's good to see you back as yourself. But what a dreadful lot of stress for you.
Have you decided to go back on the glucosomate? I take the maximum strength, coupled with a high strength oil capsule every day and the difference between my mobility now and 18 months ago is dramatic. It took about a month to notice the effect.
Aging not for cissies. Hmmm. How old was your husband when he said this?

I believe the saying "old age is not for sissies" can be attributed to George Burns, who lived to just a few months shy of 100 years.

Oh, AR1 you poor dear! Just when you need things to be gliding smoothly for you!
I hope you're able to concentrate on getting better, and not worry too much about the redecorating. It's so difficult when things are in a mess and you just need to relax and be serene. Maybe you should go on a small holiday in your mind. Relax under a palm tree by the ocean!
You're always in my prayers.

Hi
What a nice surprise.
I had stopped taking the glucosomate with chointroitin some time ago. I think that it definitely DID help my joints, so perhaps I should start again. You say you are taking the maximum dose. I remember that the hospital at Chertsey where they were doing the research recommended that I should take 6 tablets a day. It is quite pricey. You say you take fish oil. What do you take. I have been taking, and still am taking evening primrose oil. Then two tablets of folic acid and one 75 mg. tablet of aspirin twice a day plus my Cerebrex which really is a wonderful painkiller and much better than IBUBRUFEN< I was onto 2,000 mgs. of that and I really felt like a bloated whale and was jolly miserable. I am much better on what I am taking now. I seem to be coping, but will have to manage my diet well - i.e. no butter, cheese, eggs and also little salt. HOpefully the angina and the HBP are gone for good - even wiothout the medication.
Thanks for the help.

George Burns or Bette Davis.
Both were wonderful old timers.
That I should be as fortunate as them. And look at Bob Hope. He did well.
I think that D. started using that statement when he was about 60. And he actually died when he was 66. But both his parents died very young.

Thank you my dear Shea big
Actually I am not too stressed about it. I am only sad that this poor guy is having such a hard time. And when someone who is patently unwell is unpleasant I really do not take it personally. It is only family problems which stress me seriously. And Abbi has just got some wonderful recommendations in her journsal called "Fair Family Fighting". I wish I could be like that!!
I have had some super phonecalls from M from Alaska and also postcards from both M. and my two grandsons. So I feel much loved by that branch of the familoy!!.
Much affection

I take 1500mg of glucosamine (1 big tablet) that is quite expensive but worth it. I take a 1000mg oil capsule which is 50/50 evening primrose and cod liver. When I first started myself on this I took 3 of these capsules a day for a month, then down to 2 a day and then 1 a day, which I've taken since then. It's supposed to keep the old brain sharp as well, insulating the electrical connections in the brain. This wasn't advised by any doctor, but I looked at the research and decided that's what I'd take. I haven't taken pain killers for a year, although I did find distalgesic was rather wonderful when I was prescribed some for the worst pain (which I don't get any more).
Sssh! I know I shouldn't advertise on h2g2, but Asda has a very good deal on their own brand of the oil capsules. 180 1000mg caps for £7.48 (6 months @ 1 a day). I also go to the gym several times a week then swim and go to the hot tub, sauna and steam room. Nice!
It's still school holidays for a while longer and my good news is that I should be buying a house at the end of September! Once more back in the village I was living in earlier this year. It will be lovely to have our own place. Opening up all our boxes after a year of them being in storage will make it seem like Christmas come early!

Well at last, after over a week of trying I have now been transformed into SmilingAlsoRan1 U516677. My old number is U186820.
Does everyone have to sign in everytime they want to get onto this web site. It takes me ages, with delays etc. telling me that I have been locked out.
I long to find all my friends. Zarquhon is going to come out and help me get a link between my two names. Smiling Also ran. I can assure you I was a Scowling also Ran. !!
It has been a difficult week. It should have been a super week and certainly it started well with my eldest son M. coming out for supper on Monday night and us having a lovely threesome with a good bottle of Australian wine.
On Tuesday my newly married granddaughter was coming out to tea with her new husband. They had just got married in South Africa with a Bush wedding north of Pretoria. Then they had come over to Prague. First of all they phoned me up on Tuesday a.m. to tell me that their plane was delayed. Then they phoned up from London to say that their plane had been further delayed and instead of getting here at 2.30 it would be 4.30. Then they phoned me up to say they were on the train and speeding out to Sevenoaks. I went outside to greet them, and there were those streamer things which the police put up everywhere. I looked confused and a charming policeman came up. I explained the position and he informed me that they would NOT be able to visit me as there was a "bomb" in the road. Honestly.!!! Anway about five minutes later my granddaughter phoned from the top of the road. The police refused to let them come down to me saying they would be delayed for ages. So I said I would go up to her. So a very dear policeman came and helped me get my coat and my handbag and my darling K. and wheeled me up the hill to darling new bride and bridegroom.
Fortunately I remembered that I had a friend who lived nearby and so I invaded her home with my brood. We lloked at wedding photos for about ten minutes and then the newly weds had to go back to lOndon to another appointment. We were eventually able to get back into my home at 10.p.m. having been out of the house since 4.30 p.m. I felt so sorry for the many parents of small children who did not have a haven to go to.
It appears that a house two away from me belongs to someone who is head of a pharmaceutical company and this guy and his wife have been targeted ever since they came to live here. It si all about animal Rights. I wonder if it achieves anything? Except gross inconvenience for everyone.
Well dear friends I hope that someone will bother to find me on the other Site - I shall try and be smiling when you write to me. Much rather be plain Also Ran1
