Beignets and smiley - coffee would make a great breakfast, Evangeline! smiley - drool

I've had strong coffee before. My mother always made her smiley - coffee strong. I suspect it was because she lost some taste buds over the years--probably from drinking too much strong coffee. smiley - biggrin

I used to eat at a Greek restaurant, where they served very thick coffee. I think someone called it Turkish coffee. Or maybe it weas espresso. It was good with baklava, which is the food of the gods as far as IU'm concerned. smiley - angel

Now I put it in a lot when I make it at home.. my favorite is what I call a gingerbread cafe con leche... you take a mix of spices (basically pie spice with a dash of cardamom) and sprinkle it over the grounds when making the coffee - or better yet espresso.. steam milk with some vanilla in it and yum!

Alchemist, I'm trying to avoid unnecessary carbs.

One very old fashioned coffee pot.... boiling water, dark roast coffee (preferably Community* or French Market*). Drizzle the boiling water over the coffee allowing time for the water to seep through the grounds. Once you have enough liquid in the coffee pot, place the pot on a burner set on the lowest setting possible... usually, for about ten to twenty minutes.
