Speaking of smiley - bleep, how does this outfit feel about people censoring our output? Not that we have output, but if we did, I sure wouldn't want it censored!

There is no way I am allowing anything I didn't put out to be censored. And I'm not even happy about those explicit lyrics stickers. Sometimes you have to listen to those CD's two or three times before you can even hear the explicit lyric in question. But I do appreciate that children must be protected so I want more accurate stickers.

I propose a new four tier system for evalutaing albums.

Not-very-explicit lyrics -- for albums which contain less than 6 swearwords.

Explicit lyrics -- for albums which contains 7 or more swearwords.

F*****g explicit lyrics -- for albums whose words are more than 10% vulgarity.

Pure Filth -- for albums which contain only swearwords, conjunctions and the sound of exploding lambs.

I don't think that it should be the /quantity/ of explicit lyrics, but rather the /quality/ (or lack thereof)of those lyrics. For instance the use of certain well known but vulgar words begining with the letters f, s, b, and q may be offensive, even when used merely as exclaimations and adjectives ("smiley - bleep I hate that smiley - bleeping guy") . However it would be more offensive to use profane words as actual nouns and verbs ("I'm going to smiley - bleep the smiley - bleep out of that smiley - bleep until he smiley - bleeps"). Also a racial slur is more offensive (in my opinion, at any rate) than a simple swear word.

At any rate, under my system Ice T would recieve a less stern rating than say Eminem or Paul Simon's "Songs from the Capeman".

The Right Honourable gentleman has asked a good question. I too thought it was rather queer that q was included in the list.

I put "q" in the list because it was one of the few letters I could think of that DIDN'T have a swear word associated with it (counting, of course, only languages I can speak). Just to see if you were paying attention, really, which you were.

"B" seems to be the most popular swearword starter in the english language. Coming to mind are words representing female dogs, children born out of wedlock, and a small country near France.

Oh I could think of one or two dubious words beginning with q, but I didn't think they were suitably unsuitable.

And Fred who?

BTW, my complete lack of both pop culture and street cred have made me a viable candidate for High Court Judge.

We could be like Ocean Colour Scene -- start small by not backing Paul Weller then split from him and not do our own solo stuff. Weller/Wellar? I could check an album but I'd have to leave this seat and I've been out all day.

Harlequin, I only brought up B*lg**m because it's mentioned as the worst swear word in the known universe somewhere in the Hitch Hiker trilogy. (and the radio show -- or maybe it's JUST the radio show)
