I smiley - biggrin at weather reportssmiley - smiley
years ago on one of our local tv news programs, a local farmer would give his weather predictions and 99% were spot on. But nowadays what with satellite techno etc, the weather folk can't get 2 days right togethersmiley - laughand "long" range forecasts no chance, as we can get all 4 seasons in 1 month smiley - laughsmiley - laugh

Long range forecasts were never all that accurate anyway. I'm also willing to imagine that something could come along to delay global warming. Another ice age is still not impossible, especially if the Gulf Stream stops or cools. The growing use of sophisticated affordable solar panels in Africa and other parts of the Third World may also prove to be a turning point for the move away from fossil fuels.

The acidification of oceans is more serious as they absorb carbon dioxide. Sea food may cease to be part of our food supply smiley - sadface, except where it is farmed.

Climate is complicated. Opposing trends can cancel each other out, though generally it's been found that airborne carbon dioxide correlated heavily with rising temps. Plus, there is still a lot of buried carbon -- deposits on the ocean floor, peat bogs in the frozen places like Siberia -- and the Sun puts out more energy than it did a billion years ago when there was a lot more carbon dioxide in the air. If we had that much atmospheric carbon now, we'd be insanely hot!

Not even close! There's still around 20 inches of snow cover on the ground, and plowable snow is expected to fall this afternoon.

Since you've brought up that old thread, prof, I'm going to offer some reactions to your original posts.

"a 'creator' made Adam and then Eve, how come they had English names ?" [prof animal chaos]

They didn't have English names. Various people have translated the Bible into English.

Regarding the Adam's Apple:

"the Latin phrase to designate the laryngeal prominence was very probably translated incorrectly from the beginning. The phrase in Latin was "pomum Adami" (literally: 'Adam's apple'). This, in turn, came from the Hebrew "tappuach ha adam" meaning "apple of man". The confusion lies in the fact that in Hebrew language the proper
name "Adam" (אד&#1501smiley - winkeye literally means "man", while the late Hebrew word used to refer "bump" is very similar to the word used to refer "apple".[8][9] Proponents of this version contend that the subsequent phrases in Latin and other Romance languages
represent a mistranslation from the start."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam's_apple

"Who taught them language, if they were the first two on the planet?"

But they weren't the first two on the planet. God communicated with them. How he did it was not specified. Later, as the population
increased, their descendants developed many languages on their own.

"So were Adam and Eve barking mad or what ?"

I wasn't there, so I can't tell. smiley - winkeye

smiley - cool cheers Paul - I've learnt something else new - thanks

you'll see that I sort of rip hell out of religion throughout that thread (not in insult, only in humour of course)

I would be suspicious of any religion that denied people the right to use their intelligence to decide for themselves what was real and true. smiley - smiley When I was growing up, the minister at my church constantly encouraged people to question. he was a good man.
