it makes me , that countries such as Sweden etc at us, when we "feel" snowbound with a couple of inch of snow and come to a halt in transport etc

Well, countries that deal with tons of snow have chemicals to treat the roads with, as well as hefty snow-removal machinery. Untreated snow and ice can be pretty hazardous.

If it were up to me, the warmer places that I would love to retire to someday would never have *any* snow. If they get snow, I won't bother to move there.

due to many yrs of "wet" winters, many here don't know how to drive to snow/ice etc conditionsand warnings on tv etc have no effect

Paul, I have a favour to ask if I may ?
for a while (a few yrs) I've tried to find a DVD dealer who might have a full series of Rowen and Martins laugh-in I watched that many years ago and have NEVER seen it repeated on brit TV
My DVD region is region 2 and I found one place in America, but apparently they only did region 1 (which is American)
Therefore! the favour I ask is:- could you possibly ask around ? and see if anyone does a DVD set for over here

Please don't spend hours on it ok

as you know, I live for humour and R & M were 110% funny
and the generations here that are missing outBUT! sod them! It's me that's missing out

I loved Laugh-in. It jump-started the careers of so many perofrmers that we take for granted now: Goldy Hahn, Lily Tomlin, Ruth Buzzi, Judy Carnes, etc. The rapid-fire series of gags and visual treats was relentless. Old vaudeville routines and modern stock phrases [sock it to me, you bet your bippy, etc.] were mixed in together.

Some day the whole series will be released. It's been known to happen with other series.
