Actually, I was in a sort of state that I'm sure you're familiar with. I finished work at 11 feeling absolutely shattered, but by the time I got home at about midnight I felt wide awake and totally unable to sleep.

Hello there!
I'm fine, thanks - and I do hope you are, too. It's always nice to catch up with people. I've been offline for a couple of long periods in the past year or so for one reason or another, and my working hours rather limit my opportunities to post.

Pretty shiney stuff
I think its a kind of plastic ... I am not sure though. What I do know is that they are punched out of a roll of film and you can buy sequin scrap (the bit left over with holes in it) too ...

Maybe it's liquid parrferrisum? A rare and precious metal which at room temperature can be rolled out into a sheet and punched full of holes.
