Ooooh, I have a humming bird outside the window. And a pretty motorcycle just drove by. WEeee. Yes, I know... off topic. *hugs thread*

As far as I can figure out, off topic posts are perfectly normal here.

I figured as much, but a lot of the forums I frequent still get after me when I make off topic posts, even if they know that's a normal thing for me to do. *shrugs*

They should, but instead they threaten to punish those of us who try to have fun because it offends some members. *pouts*

Of course, I suppose a lot depends on which threads you're doing this on.
For instance, on the What do people like about America thread, it was established as a place to say something positive about the US for a change, instead of a place to air still more grievances about the place. Unfortunately, there have been those who have tried to use it as a forum for not only complaining about the US, and it's policies, they've also been using it to complain about other countries, which can become very annoying, especially when you repeatedly tell them that you want it to remain a positive thread, since there are no others like that.
But if you really want to be able to post off topic posts as much as you like with no one complaining a bit about it, then you should visit Paul's off topic thread. No posting is allowed to refer to the previous one in any way on that thread! Aaaaaah! A haven for talking off-topic!

The off-topic thread is a lot of fun.
Thanks for mentioning it here, Lady Scott.
I didn't know there was a thread about things
people like about America.

America has lots of nice scenery, but of course
a lot of other countries have that, too. If you
include Alaska and Hawaii, there's Arctic Circle
and tropical rainforewsts as well.
As for the American people and their institutions,
you have a mix of emigres from the rest of the
world. We have Japanese tea gardens, mosques, button
museums, rodeos, Disneyland, alpine skiing, luaus,
sightseeing cruises along the coastal glaciers in
Alaska's panhandle, voodoo at midnight in cemeteries
in Savannah, Georgia. What other country could possibly
be so diverse?

Hmm. I have a diabolical plan to make this thread immortal. All I need are some willing helpers and a couple of dozen souls.
Who's with me?

You should thank me for keeping it away from you .
If you want to know who with me is, asking him/her yourself.

There's no way I wouldn't notice
this body that I drag around.
I used to be so thin, even my grandmother
worried that I wasn't eating enough.
If she were alive, she wouldn't be
worried any more.

"There's no way I wouldn't notice

That really sounded for a moment like you had a corpse you were carrying around.
Don't feel too bad - lots of us have "excess baggage" to drag around everywhere we go...
