Great, so not only is my housemate completely self-centred, she's trying to poison us

Happy birthday Mala!
I've had a couple of lodgers like that. They really destroy the harmony of a house. Has anyone confronted this person? Or all the rest of you could organize a netiquette squad and make her aware that she has *gasp* shortcomings.

Happy birthday from me too!

Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Astonishingly enough, the housemate just showed up to give me a birthday present.
It was a bar of soap and some body scrub that she proudly told me she'd got free at a charity event last year. Of course it's not the "good soap" she uses, but as a beautician, she knows I need all the help I can get.
Thanks, I think.

As long as she does not wash the dishes or anything else with it. If you intend to use it hide it somewhere! She is a real piece of work. How on earth are these people licensed? Over here beauticians have to be more scientific or they can't touch peoples heads or faces.

To listen to my mother-in-law talk, having a beautician's license means you know all about germs. This being the same woman that offers her leftover antibiotics whenever someone has a cold *twitch* (A mufflewhump each for everyone who spots all 3 things wrong with that...)

On top of all that, I've noticed she tends to induce a slightly...funeralesque atmosphere in the room...
Maybe it comes from having poisoned so many people!

>>This being the same woman that offers her leftover antibiotics whenever someone has a cold *twitch* (A mufflewhump each for everyone who spots all 3 things wrong with that...)<<
Let's see:
1) Leftover antibiotics - you are supposed to use up all the antibiotics you have been given. That is, there should not be any leftover antibiotics.
2) "Colds" are (generally? usually?) not caused by bacteria, but by a virus. Antibiotics do not affect viri.
3) Even if there was a bacterial thing going on, you would rather want an antibiotic that really fits your bacteria. It's like when you need fuel for your car and pump normal gas, even if you have a diesel engine (but hey, fuel is fuel, right?).
Was that it? Can I have a mufflewhump now? What is a mufflewhump, anyway?

Actually, considering your #3, I suppose that there're 4 things wrong *hands Yelbakk a mufflewhump* *pointedly does not point out that if directions in name are followed, one need only scroll a bit--OK, a lot--to find out what a mufflewhump is

Oh, thank you. That mufflewhump was truly the best gift I have been given so far today. It was just what I needed. Is there any way, though, from stopping it from rummaging through my fridge?

4) Prescribed medication is for the individual, and must not be handed over to other individuals...
Impressive collection of wrongs, in such a quick action

5) unessasarry antibiotics may due to the mutation of bacteria make things worse over time

Good I did get them all (well, not the new number 4), but wasn't completely sure about number 3
I wouldn't give my meds to someone (in date or not) unless I was trying to poison them, given their bad side effects as well as the more amusing side effect of a significant chance of turning someone bright red (which, thankfully, I don't exhibit)

Really?
Though 5 couldn't happen because of 3 - if the antibiotics aren't reacting to anything, then survivors of it won't be more immune

I am under the impression that even if nothing reacts to the antibiotics your body should not be exposed to antibiotics that you don't need, but then I'm not a medicine man

One that was missed is that the other persom may in fact have an allergic reation to that class of antibotic, which could be life threatening.

You also risk them not knowing the correct dosage (which hopefully you will have been told directly by whoever proscribed them), and taking too large an amount
