Question for you all- why do a lot of people seem to think I'm gay?
Jordan Posted Feb 8, 2004
I was born in Kilmarnock, but my misguided family decided to move to Blackpool - most of my family live in Kilmarnock, but my mother, brother, sisters and uncle live in Blackpool. And, as you guessed, I go to the misnamed and justly maligned University of Warwick, which accounts for my living in Coventry for thirty weeks of the year.
How's that for distributed living?

Right.
McKay- is the other university as misnamed as "University of Warwick" being somewhere that patently isn't Warwick?

No - but he could have been at the correctly named one.
Actually Warwick was so named because it was felt it would attract better funding than a University of Coventry - plus Warwick didn't have the infrastructure to support it.
So - in the best traditions of politics - a deal was done.

"Hi Ben! I decided it was you from your name - it sounded like the sort of name you would have. And your posts, of course."
Sex and semiotics - that's me!

On the flip side, of course, is the assumption that you're straight. Anyone here had *that* happen recently?

My bad.
I've been hit on by both men and women, although the women tend to hit on me at work. Apparently, women who bartend must be gay? I'm always flattered, regardless of the gender, but other than one female friend who happens to be a fabulous kisser, I'm really not interested in either gender. Although I did get a really nice backrub from an old friend who's recently been hinting...I may have to have him take me on a date...

Ok Egon. I see Z has already covered most of my points on the subject that is being discussed. I particularly agree on your beard definitely not a gay mans beard. I should know I used to spend longer shaving when I had a beard than now that I am clean shaven. Getting my sideburns equal length and trimming the beard just to the right shape and length. that one is just thrown unto your face.
As a bi-sexual man may I justy say that just as there are straight acting, looking gay men there are also gay acting/looking straight men. This will result in you being chatted up by gay men as in this thread some people say some of you manerisms which the photos cannot convey are gay-like. However as a bi-sexual man I must say that gay-dar is not an 100% science we do sometimes get it wrong.
My first male lover went way out on a limb when he started to take an interest in me as he wasn't sure whether the signals I was giving were as a straight or gay man. He was lucky that I responded correctly to his advances and that is the key, we're human we sometimes get it wrong. If you turn down a gay man advance with a simple no, Sorry I'm straight that will be enough. However, as for romance if even your female friends think you are gay you will have to be very proactive in securing a girlfriend to overcome that obstactle on the other side. Mind you there are women, my fiancee being one, who do love being with a gay acting/looking guy who is straight/bi.
All the best though Egon.

Please differentiate between 'straight acting men' and 'straight actors'. I'm pretty sure there are none of the latter.

Master B there are Straight actors I can name at least one who told me so in no uncertain terms at an event once. However, how he'd ended up after doing a Patrick Kealty show at the only gay bar in Belfast is beyond me.

Some clarification on the beard- it really is as natural as it looks- I alst shaved in late november, which was also when i last had a haircut. hence the hair growing out and the beard being bushy...

Well I wonder if it's part of the subconcious imagery thing. Like they say female breasts are supposed to remind the male ego of the buttock cleavage. Maybe Egon's beard is appealing to gay men for the same reason.

Well as I said above not this gay man.
And you should see some of the pubic hair grooming that some of those guys do as well, s o i doubt it Egon. You may be on the save and narrow again after all.
