Speaking of lousy weather, we've got some coming... allegedly.

So. This time two days ago the temperature was in the mid 80s F. Today it's in the mid 40s, and although they've forecast a maximum of 58F for this afternoon, I'd be surprised if it gets there.

And now there's a cold front forecast to come through on late on Tuesday/early on Wednesday which is going to be one of those 'I've just come down from the far north of Canada and I'm going to drop your temperatures by 30° in a couple of hours' cold fronts. There's rain forecast too.

Wednesday and Thursday are my days off this week smiley - sadface

Won't it bring snow if it's coming down from Canada?

We've got strong northerlies bringing temps in the mid-30s smiley - bigeyes and thunder for later in the day. Rain tomorrow and Thursday, then a cool change from the south smiley - ok It's days like this when I'm thankful for airconditioning to dip in and out of smiley - smiley

There'll be snow for sure further north in the Panhandle - Abilene, Lubbock, Amarillo, but it rarely snows this far south. I don't think it snowed last winter but it did two winters ago. We get ice storms instead.

I don't have any official stats for you (but a quick glance at the page says you don't have any either - don't panic! I didn't actually *read* the backlog) but I thought I'd just pop by and say

IT'S COLD!
smiley - brr

(all guesstimates)
high for today - 28F
high for tomorrow - 30F
high for wednesday - ~24F
and more of the same for the rest of the week.

And we're not even getting any snow! smiley - wah

Miss you loads.

Was that broelan? smiley - wow

Not much warmer here than in St Louis. Well, it is now, but when I woke up about three hours ago and turned on the wireless (about 7.40am) they were reporting that temperature at the time was 32F/0C, but as I listened in bed it started to warm up, and quickly - about 1°F every 14 minutes or so, and now - at 10.30am - it's 47°/8.3°. Here's a list of the overnight lows in the surrounding area:

15F/-9.4C Mullin & Llano
16F/-8.9C Jonestown
17F/-8.3C Fredericksburg
18F/-7.8C Lago Vista
18F/-7.8C Elgin & Rosanky
19F/-7.2C Dripping Springs
20F/-6.7C Austin-Bergstrom
24F/-4.4C Smithville

Let's not forget that three days ago (Saturday) it was in the mid 80s F/upper 20s C smiley - online2long And it's forecast to get into the upper 60s F/upper teens C this afternoon smiley - cdouble Before getting even colder tonight and on Wednesday and Thursday, with a possibilty of sleet on Wednesday night smiley - brr

It started off chilly today and has gotten colder all day. The highest temperature of the day was at midnight (53F/11.7C) and has gone down since then. Currently 28F/-2.2C, wind chill 21F/-6.1. And it feels like it too, having just gotten in. There's preciptation out there but I wouldn't go as far as to call it rain - it's more like a heavy misting of moisture.

Just checked the stats for Camp Mabry - it got down to 23F/-5C, which is a new record for the day, and probably what it got down around where I live (that figure in the previous post was from downtown). Not sure what the figure was from the airport but I reckon it must have been even colder. Right now it's 1pm and stil only 29/1.7 downtown. I think when I went to bed last night I saw a wind chill for downtown of around 6F/-14C smiley - yikes

I'm having difficulty imagining 1/4inch of frost smiley - yikes

After yesterday's spectacular storms we have a clear sunny day and it's 28ish, which is perfect for drying out all the outdoor cushions and some of the indoor furnishings that got a soaking.

Not a 1/4 inch of frost FB, a 1/4 inch of ice.

Noticably warmer this evening on the way home from work (eatin dinner at midnight... not my idea of fun smiley - smiley). Let's have a quick butchers at the official downtown temperature...

43°F/6.1°C smiley - ok Positively balmy smiley - tongueout I may strip orf and sunbathe smiley - bigeyes
