As I am at work, I cannot access the Seti site. But the project has been windng down for some time. Last I heard there is not a set date that it will end. I know it is upcoming however.

The last newspaper report I saw said that it would take another 100 years to track the most promising signals.

And besides, they've only done one frequency range so far, there's plenty of others and the southern hemisphere to look at

Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor Posted May 6, 2003
Yes, I heard that's one of the options we'll be given, to search a bit of the Southern Hemisphere.
I am trying to remember where I read it {for Jeremy} I'm going to see if I can access the site for you honey

It is nice to know that my contribution (218 units) to the project means that they have made such headway they can consider ending this phase of it

A few minutes ago my 1094th unit was sent back. This means have reached DNA's mark ...
Some months ago I didn't dare to think that this might ever happen ...

I find it very touching that people are worried about overtaking DNA's contribution.
Stella even stopped doing seti because she didn't want to replace him in the top ten.
I don't think Mr. Adams would have wanted that.

After all, none of us told him to go on leave. I bet that every single one uf us would have preferred him to stay here, crunch lots of SETI units and write some books
Definitely he wouldn't have liked the world to stop behind him.

It's nice that everyone still talks about him though.
I was talking about him on the BBC yesterday, and the women who were running the programme knew who I was talking about.

We brought TJ's computer into CompUSA over the weekend for a repair, so I wandered over to the Apple section just to see what they had. There was a beautiful 21" studio display connected to a G4, so I decided to play with it. TJ came over and wanted to hear what the speakers sounded like, so I opened iTunes. They had a bunch of audio files loaded. One was Douglas reading from Hitchhikers Guide! I turned up the volume, and let it play ... looped! I figured the folks there deserved to hear something good.

I should roll over 2200 tonight as I sleep.
How much of the day do your computers crunch? Mine go all day every day.
over 900 seti units!
Coniraya Posted May 10, 2003
Ours run for around 14 hours. The mail server also acts as a seti server and has half a dozen units lined up to crunch.
No2 son has got his new overclocked Athalon AMD crunching units too, I think it manages 5 units a day. His P4 does 4 units. Between them they have 9 fans keeping them cool, at this rate he will need liquid coolant and air-con in his room Oh the joys have having another in the family
I am on 235 units now.

At the moment mine has been running almost 24/7 save the occasional reset of the computer and the router.

That was wonderful to read today of all days, Shea.
I really should see if those tapes are in my local library.
My pc crunches 24/7 except when the pages won't load I turn it off for a few hours to cool down.
