Did anyone here see the Michael Jackson interview?
Bashir asked him if he wanted to be buried {in the replica Tutankhamun sarcophagus he'd just purchased}
MJ said "No way!"
Bashir: "You don't want to be buried? What do you want to happen then?"
MJ: "I want to live forever"
Unfortunately no-one lives forever.
We all have to die sometime.
The astronauts, probably asked, might have said "I'd like to die after a fantastic trip to outer space, but make it a quick death"
My mother wants to die in her own bed, during her sleep.
My father, listening to my mother, looked at me and said "And I would like to die the very next day"
Unless we commit suicide, none of us has control over our own destiny.
I have enough faith to pass my destiny over to God and pray I live a long and happy life. And that of my family and my loved ones.
And I pray for world peace, that's all I can do.
I believe in the power of prayer.
I wish you goodnight and God Bless you all.
Sweet dreams.

The last interview with oprah was much more convincing on the surgery front...or maybe that was because I was only 13 when it was done I'm surprises they haven't hoiked out footage from that one.

I had my nose operated on 5 times and I still can't sing. Mind you i still look liek a human male rather than some sort of androgeneous biped freak......is that too strong??

If it isn't falling off, it's too strong. Michael Jackson's nose is like a game of sardines in reverse.

Genetics is the key. I can't wait till they find ways to allow people to live as long as they want to, or to improve healing or weight control. Have any of you seen this /fascinating/ article on wired:

Remarkable. I can only dream of the day when they can change genetic material on-the-fly, so to speak.

hmmm, I wouldn't mind the weight control...but being in charge of my own destiny would be scary!

I think the ethical considerations are very scary, and the idea of being able to change dna on the fly is bonkers, how could you change the dna in every cell in the body!

Jordan Posted Feb 11, 2003
Goodness knows. I'm just going to wait till they figure out a way to do it. I hope they won't keep me waiting too long!
I mean, the idea of going to the moon was bonkers, and so were electron microscopes and moving pictures and radio and microwave ovens and PCs and being able to read the genome, so who knows if it's possible? I have no idea, but I' sure we'll find a way.
Oh, and they wouldn't need to change quite /every/ cell, so far as I can see... However, I need to check it up before I can be absolutely certain. I do know that genetic therapy - as opposed to prevention - would work on exactly the same principles as making any of these other modifications.
What I want to know is, should we and why? I see very few good reasons we shouldn't, if the treatment is made freely available.

We might all end up looking and acting the same, and where would be the fun in that???!!!

You must remember sardines - where everyone squashes into a dark cupboard until the last one finds you.......... those were the days. I'm stumped as to what it has got to do with MJ's nose, though, forwards or backwards.

Why would we look the same?
I was considering the obvious... lack of nose. I get the creeps looking at it! I didn't actually know what it looked like at first so I didn't say anything - I thought people were exaggerating and surely it looked mostly normal - but then I saw a picture...
Sorry if I'm causing offense to any MJ fans here, but I can't help but obsess over it - rather like one does with bad toupeés, or warts or such. I'm sure people find my acne positively repellant, for example.
Not that it makes him a bad person, mind - my antibiotics are for cosmetic purposes, just as (if I'm correct) his nose ops were.

In my newspaper yesterday they did 2 pages on celebrities and their cartoon counterparts.
MJ with a picture of Peter Pan next to him, and their noses are *exactly* the same. He just needs some Spock ears now.
They also paired Cherie Blair with Cruella De Ville.
Cruel but inspired.

Look the same? If we all work towards the same ideal, and all go to the same doctors, how can we not?
