Hi ringo,
did you hear of a french band (?) named Plastic Bertrand - methinks it was in the 80s - they had 1 or 2 hit, but no idea of the titles.
Today the song shall be 'Graceland' by Paul Simon
just can't get enough
ringo (it's not all right) Posted Dec 7, 2000
hehe, Graceland is great
about Plastic Bertrand - all i know is the Plastic Ono Band ans Frank Zappa's Plastic People
Hmm, song for today shall be 'Elvis has just left the building' by Frank Zappa
just can't get enough
You can call me TC Posted Dec 7, 2000
Plastique Bertrand was a blond guy whose most famous song was "Ca plane pour moi" - which means "everything is going smoothly for me." I can just about remember the chorus. No idea when it was.

Ca plane pour moi
Bassman - Funny how people never ceases to amaze me! Posted Dec 8, 2000
This song was released in the late 70's, I think it was 78. I remember singing the "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH" bit on the coach to a Geography field trip. A week spent in Thaxted in Essex. A great time except for getting turned down by the first young lady I'd ever got up the bottle to ask out. Sonia, you broke my heart.

That gets me thinking, anyone remember "The Crunch" by the Rah band? An instrumental, mainly keyboard based!

Sorry TC, can't hum in French. I'm quite strictly monolingual - well almost!
the crunge
ringo (it's not all right) Posted Dec 10, 2000
i know 'the crunge' by Led Zeppelin - but it's no instrumental. Ca plane pour moi was indeed a No.1 hit, round here in Germany i remember seeing this french guy in an orange overall
but couldn't remember his name at all...
my song for today is 'the ocean', last song of an orange coloured Led Zep album... which album was it?
Bassman, you did not tell us who was the second artist with less selling after live aid...(?)

WHAT?!?
Bassman, this are only 5 miles! Go at once and then report, please!
Sorry, but I love the Stranglers (well, until 'Allways the sun' which I don't like at all ), many, many years ago, as I lived in Munich/Germany, I run to all of their concerts.
I still love their songs, it's for me!
BTW, Bassman: good voice, you have - you should join us in the Choral Society at http://www.h2g2.com/U153792

we have been at the meet-up, just had to leave on sunday morning to bring Pawel to the train station (he had to travel 900 kilometres [~500 miles] back to work)
nevertheless it was pretty good, i think Englaender will write about it...
it's monday now, i don't have to work today, the sun is shining, i feel fine...
my song for today is 'pata pata' by Miriam Makeba

You can call me TC Posted Dec 11, 2000
My son has just napstered "Jump" - (yes, as in Van Halen) sung by - wait for it: Gary Cherone (of Extreme) . Very good - although Gary's voice isn't quite as strong. Said son also has Bon Jovi singing "I don't like Mondays" - with Sir Bob together. Most original.
So I'm listening to Gary Cherone looped - just thinking of that guy's back view makes me drool...........

Rock the Casbah!
Ottox Posted Dec 12, 2000
I've been humming Rock the Casbah for 50 minutes now!
The reason I didn't tell what my song is (Kasia asked me in another thread), is that I haven't found one Too stressed to think of anything else than choirmusic, and I'm too tired of that, to use it as song of the day!
But some information: I don't remember Plastic Bertrand, but I want you to know he isn't French, he's from Belgium. Ca Plane Pour Moi was first released in 1977.
I'm using to much time finding trivia...

Kasia,
Thanks for the nice comments about my voice. (I think they may be a little misguided ~ grin ~ )
Don't know if you've had a look at my space, but you'll find a potted history of my playing. I sing "No More Heroes" for my band - it's the only song that the vocalist Rache gets a rest for.
I will try my hardest to remember to dedicate it to you next time we play - 6th January.
