November - half way through!
Ottox Posted Nov 16, 2000
Oh, stop it! There are many good Stones melodies, I know that!
(Don't remember this one at all...)
Good to see you here TC!
As for Robbie the older songs surely are the best. He played one of the best concerts at last years Roskilde Festival!!!
And where have I been? Messed up in RL. Started to work after having done nothing for two years. And the day before I started, my grandmother died. So the last few weeks have been really busy. Hope I now can be online more often again!
My music of the night is my new CD with 53 soul classics. To mention one: Otis Redding - (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay

Soul - oh, this is great!
Hello Trillian's child, nice you joined our club
My song of the day is 'The letter' by The Box Tops:
Give me a ticket for an aeroplane
I ain't got time to take a fast train
Lonely days are gone
I'm going home, because my baby just wrote me a letter

Yes. Well. Today is nearly over, but I can still remember a very old favourite - Purple Haze - sung by Dion. A very rare thing, but beautiful.

Golden brown is a great song - but try and dance to it! It does a timing change every now and again. It's probably the most popular song about Dope that I can think of.... unless any of you guys can think of one.
Song for today....... let me see........ (Scratches head)
It'll have to be "Don't Fear The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult.
Why, because my band are about to put it into our set for the first time tomorrow night and I've been playing it loads recently. Great, great song, I hope that we do it justice. It isn' as straight forward as you might think, try counting out the timing for the guitar riff in the bridge just after the second verse, before the guitar solo, that's different!!

Trillian's Child,
Is that "Purple Haze" as made famous by Jimi Hendrix - if so I've not heard that version.
Have you ever heard Seal's version of "Hey Joe"? Truely awesome!! I saw him do it at the Hammersmith Odeon, ten years ago.

November is this particular month for me, where I would love to have the possibility to stay all the time in bed. I'm always sleepy, cause I try to get used to the lack of light (IRL the light comes about 6.30 am and goes at 3.30 pm).
So I'm not very activ now, read a lot and listen to music more then usual.
I try to force myself to more activity and this song is then a great help
So, my song for today is Ray Charles' 'Hit the road, Jack'
Hit the Road Jack and don'tcha come back
No more no more no more no more,
Hit the Road Jack and don'tcha come back
No more
What'd you say
Brown Sugar
You can call me TC Posted Nov 23, 2000
Isn't that even more popular? Or is it about the wrong kind of dope?
Yes - it is _THE_ Purple Haze, I caught it once on the radio and recorded it in about 1969/70 and have a reel-to-reel recording,. Have never heard of it since, but can't forget it. Dion was a sort of ballad singer about that time.
Blue Oyster Cult are great - I saw them live about four years ago - but otherwise they're not heard of in Germany.
My Song of today is I Maschi - by Gianna Nannini.

hehe
glad that you're all around - had been off for a couple of days.
Kasia, i'm thinking of what you've said - the song while having the first kiss
I have to admit, i'm not sure about the song anymore, i'm afraid it was something like 'dreams are my reality' from the "La Boum" soundtrack - but i hope it wasn't
but at least i can remember the album where we've got (a little bit) further; it was the flashdance soundtrack (what a feeling; she's a maniac;... )
ok, but now that i'm back, my song for today's 'the boys are back in town' by Thin Lizzy
First Kiss?
You can call me TC Posted Nov 23, 2000
No idea. Think it was in the back of a car somewhere. Wasn't worth remembering.
I did have a boyfriend who could really kiss well. About the time when they played "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum a lot. But I'm not sure if that was the actual tune that accompanied the Great Event. Maggie Mae by Rod Stewart brings back that era, too. That is a "Song of the Day" type song.
Or something like "You gotta Friend" by Carole King.
First Kiss?
Ottox Posted Nov 24, 2000
I hate to say this, but my song of the day has to be White Christmas! LOL! I was sure it should be Don't fear the reaper - if I hear that song once (or just are reminded like today) it stays in my head all day, and I don't mind!!!
But as my choir this night tried singing a really 'much to much' arrangement of White Christmas that I wrote two years ago (and has never heard before), that must be it!!!
First Kiss?
Bassman - Funny how people never ceases to amaze me! Posted Nov 24, 2000
Don't Fear The Reaper, is one of those songs that I've never heard someone say that they don't like it. Along with:
Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel
Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
Killer - Seal
Black Velvet - Alannah Myles (Hope that's spelled right)
No More Heroes - The Stranglers
Jump - Van Halen
What do you guys think?
First Kiss?
ringo (it's not all right) Posted Nov 24, 2000
Only the guys?
Hard Rock Cafe - Carole King
Walk on the wild side - Lou Reed
Here comes the sun - Beatles
Let love rule - Lenny Kravitz
My Baby just cares for me - Nina Simone
Me and Bobby McGhee - Janis Joplin
