Song of the Day

Post 1

ringo (it's not all right)

Welcome everyone in this journal entry!

What I'd like to do is to encourage everyone to introduce his personal song of the day to the huge audience that's hopefully visiting ringos' home, soon.
If she/he wants to, with an explanation why exactly this song; for what reasons.
If not - good as well.

So feel free to introduce your songs, or discuss the postings of the others, dig them out of your CD/LP collection...

Does anybody mind me beginning? No? Fine

25.06.00
"Sweet Transvestite"
from the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack.

I haven't heard it for years, but I had a chat today with Fashion Cat and she reminded me of RHPS and the songs. An excellent & delicate song and always good for a laugh when you sing (and dance) the sweet transvestite in front of your bathroom mirror.
If you did not believe me, go and have a try!

right, if no-one else joins the conversation, I'll join myself, hehe

song for today is: "Born to move" from CCR
It's good to hear, especially when you drive to work, because listening to the last three minutes of the hammond-organ solo, you know, no-one can give you a hard time today.
It really works, I proved it today smiley - winkeye

Ironic (Alanis Morisette)

I know they played it all night long, and sometimes I cannot hear it anymore. But I like the phrase:

"it's like 10.000 spoons and all you need is a knife"

Java Jive (Manhattan Transfer)

I'm a jazz maniac, so I preferably listen to this music. Yesterday I was in the mood for Manhattan Transfer. But today in the morning, the first song I heared at the radio, was also Java Jive, and once again in the afternoon, at a 'normal' radio station.
So it has to be my Song of the Day:

I love coffee, I love tea,
I love the Java Jive and it loves me
Coffee and tea and the java and me,
A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup!

Hi Kasia, thanks for joining !! smiley - bigeyes

I'm not too familiar with Jazz, but the lyrics are a kind of, I really like.
For myself, I need something strong for today,

Mexican Radio (Wall of Voodoo)

I wish I was in Tijuana,
eating barbequeued Iguana

need some holidays, urgently

and right now, to push me up at the end of the day:

Azurro (Adriano Celentano)

no idea, what he sings of, but it surely feels good and is about men with hairy chests... smiley - winkeye

Oh, that's good - I love his voice, cause it's sexy, eh?
I think 'Azurro' means some kind of blue, but I don't understand this text as well *sigh*.

For me the today's song is: 'It's raining men'

No idea, who is singing this, but it is so powerful!

ringo (it's not all right)

hehe, it'r raining men...any connection to RL P-)

the weather girls; two big black ladies in a video full of black men in string tangas...

what about "sad songs and waltzes" (Cake)

it's a good thing that I'm not a star
you don't know how lucky you are
'though my record may say itn no-one will play it,
'cos sad songs and waltzes aren't selling this year

a broken heart complaining about his cruel ex-girlfriend; thank god he's taking himself not too serious

Well, it is deep at night (well, almost morning) here at my place.

I can't sleep and I'm wandering trough h2g2.

I have a wonderful song, particular for this day:
Donna Summers' "Thank God, it's Friday"

There was a disco-movie in the late 70s, which was quite popular. She acts (hmm?) there and was also singing (marvellous voice, indeed).

See you, maybe at the Purple-Pool-Party?

Hey, Ringo, what's going on? It's your turn, you lazy one!

Oh, well, then I do it.

14.8.2000

'Alice' from 'The Smokies' - it was the time of my very first parties: Smokies, Rubetts, Slade, Sweet and all of this late 70s stuff - sentimental I'm, eh?

Post 11

ringo (it's not all right)

Hello Kasia, you're definitely right valling me a lazy bloke, though this time I was just a few days in Italy to recover from a shark attack - my PC didn't work anyway...

sentimental of course, but who the f@%& cares, hehe
mentioning Smokie, what about "if you think to know how to love me" ? or keeping to the if-sentences "if you can't give me love" by SUZIE QUATRO !!)

Italy!!! I'm jealous! The next time I will go also!!

*sigh*

My South Africa journey is already few weeks ago, so I need another holiday. The problem is, I don't have anymore this year.

BTW: did you hear about the h2g2-meeting in Holland at 30th of September?

Okay - the song.

Today I'm in the mood for Mozart's Requiem (cause of a funeral IRL).

But lets talk normal: what about the old, good Beatles with "Hey Jude"?

Song of the Day

Post 13

ringo (it's not all right)

you don't need to be jealous, Italy's stuck with Italians atm, they just weren't prepared for ringo!! that's why I went home sooner than expected.
Mozart is quite 'normal' and overwhelming, but I think I know what you mean.

with the Beatles you took my all-time-favourites, I just didn't mention them, because I took them too obviously, but your definitely right!! Guess where my name is coming from smiley - winkeye

So this time: with a little help from my friends (the Beatles)

the song works every time again I hear it and nobody can sing this tune better than ringo

what do I di if my love is away
(Does it worry you to be alone?)
how do I feel by the end of the
(Are you sad because you're on your own?)
No I get by with a little help from my friends

I haven't heard of any h2g2 meetings on the continents, so thanks for the information. Will you be there?

Ha! I knew it *Kasia murmured to herself*.

So I was right about your nick.

Beatles rule ! - all songs are just evergreens for me.

So, one more: 'I'll follow the sun' - it's raining dreadfully now!

As for the meeting: I'm not sure, because as I mentioned before: no more vacation tis year. But as it is a weekend, maybe I can manage.
You can read about it under http://www.h2g2.com/A418394

Hi Kasia,
thanx for the link! ATM I'm not sure what to think about bringing RL ang h2g2 in contact but there is time to think it over. I'm pretty nosy, you know... smiley - winkeye
Don't know what's the weather in Poland is like today, guess what it's like in the southwest of Germany...

Here comes the sun (the Beatles)

the whole music world was wondering how George Harrison managed to get this geourgous sound out of his acoustic guitar. The marvellous answer was he played the complete take on the toilet of the Abbey Road studio - The place with the best acoustic he could find smiley - tongueout

This story is good; why do you think people - most preferably men, are singing in the bathroom - because of the accoustic, of course.

Song for Saturday, 19th of August: 'Ma Baker' - Boney M

Weather's splendid - I'm making a BBQ today, lots of frinds are coming, must go back to RL now, to prepare things for it.

See you

Well, the BBQ was great... for the first 2 hours, then the rain came and we put it inside the house. But the BBQ was still outside, so from time to tme one of us went outside to look after the meet and came totally wet back! It WAS fun - hot showering was also okay...

Song for today... erm... tomorrow... well for 23th of August:

'Smooth operator' - Sade. This is really a sexy voice, eh?

'Coast to coast LA to Chicago western mail...'
'Smooth operator... smooth operator'

My love is wider than Victoria lake
larger than the empire state...

It doesn't happen too often that I can remember some lyrics but not the title of a song. But I know it was Sade ...can you remember the title of the track?

Sorry, no idea at all...

Yesterday (29.August) I was in a classical mood, so it was 'Clair de la Lune' from Debussy. BTW: Did you see the fantastic movie 'Frankie and Johnny' with Michelle Pfeiffer and Al Pacino? The Leitmotiv is this Debussy-piece. If not - do it!

As for today (it's a very early morning, cause it's 3 a.m. and I can't sleep smiley - sadface ) I'm not sure, but methinks the song will be... will be... aha, I got it: 'Sexbomb' from Tom Jones.

Song of the Day

Post 20

ringo (it's not all right)

Talking 'bout Tom Jones my favourite sing would be "what's new Pussycat but my song for today (30.08.2000) is definitely "Lucky Man" (Emerson, Lake & Palmer. So pathetic, so dramatic, simply wonderful

It's always a good idea to dig some 10 year old tapes out while driving to work smiley - smiley
