I don't think about food *all* the time, just 99% of the time.

I think about food more than I eat it these days. I'm working on the resistance plan to stop my mother over feeding me. She is a terribly good cook and loves to make puddings.

this is turning into a replica thread of the 'cake or death' one...
actually I have to go to the dentist this afternoon. I know I'm a supposed adult, but I have such a phobia, my sister has to take me!
All in a good cause though!

Guess I'm somewhat late getting here. No, not watched any of the no intention of watching either.
Oooh and I'm off to the dentist next weds as well. Just gone through various medical things in the last couple weeks. I've just had a medicines review and was put on an extra drug to try and lower cholestorol even more but had an adverse reaction so it's been stopped again. Now waiting on further blood tests.

My mother, who sometimes weighs as little as 87 pounds, has very high cholesterol. It's genetic.
I knew a heavyset woman who had very high cholesterol. She was put on medication to lower it, and it harmed her liver. So she continued to have very high cholesterol, and stayed heavy, and lived to be 94.

I was under the impression they'd been a bit of a change in the view of colesterole; colesterole in blood doesn't come from diet, it comes from the liver; of course this can be influenced by what nutrients arrive at the liver from the digestive system, but broadly speaking the fats your taking in don't seem to have quite as big an effect on blood colesterole as once they thought....
My aunt after her heart attack spent ages making her diet even* more fat free (she was never overweight all her life, always ate very healthily), anhow non of the diet changes helped, most of the drugs didn't help, it was just her liver producing too much; I fear my Father has probably inherated this perpensity to high colesterole, especially in light of the heart attack he had about five weeks ago... I probably oughta be worried about my genetic disease suseptibility; father, heart attack, colesterole, blood pressure, divericulosis, his sister, heart disease, colesterole, divitulosis, his other sister, blood pressure colesterole, his brother, heart disease, colesterole.... and mothers side seems to get cancer... and diabetes, and heart disease as well...
Hence why Ilive such a healthy lifestyle of chain smoking and excessive drinking, with no exercise and poor diet well... I think I'm doomed pretty much whatever I do just making the most of it whilst I'm here

professionals can tell me or advise me what to eatbut they can't make me - I'll eat what I want and when I wantmy body takes out what it needs in various formsthen gets shut of the rest
it started at birth and it still works

My motto is "good health starts in the mind." The woman I mentioned who was heavy but lived to be 94 was a very cheery, optimistic soul. She was always treating people to donuts or coffee, and people loved to eat at her house because there was usually a big pot of stew bubbling on the stove. She worked at a library, and thought nothing of hustling downstairs to the newspaper room to bring up a heavy stack of papers if patrons needed it. She was still doing this in her late 70s.

So... she wasn't sedentary, she was just big.
If you're so big you cant move around properly there's a problem, if you can and do, and you eat good food then the chances are, you'll be as ok as anyone.
Incidentally, my second day cycling to work today. Had a bit of breathing trouble on the way up the big hill, but it's a lot damper than it was wednesday so it's not surprising... And it'll improve as I do it more.
It's really the only exercise I get. I'll feel better knowing I'm getting it I dont *do* diets. my diet is fine.

but swimming isn't a convenient and cheap thing I can easily weave into my lifestyle. Wish it was, I love it! Also, I have a section of white hair (bleached) and the chlorine in swimming pools would turn it green

council or private run swimming pools are few and far between now, as once again, everything is tied to "profits"
green hairtrendy though

oh I am missing my afternoon swim!
What I could do with is a virtual dog - one to take me on walks around the countryside. I used to have such a wonderful dog - but it is impossible for me to get a replacement at the moment. I can't just stroll into the rescue centre and borrow one for a week or two.
I have even thought of taking a walk, whilst casually trailing an empty dog lead (that is 'leash' to those of you who speak American) and occasionally shouting 'here boy!' in the general direction of the path ahead. You see, it is not often you see a solitary woman taking a walk in the open countryside, and I don't fancy joining the Rambler's groups.
