I have never heard of anyone eating squirrel before - I am amazed. Are they bigger than our grey squirrels? (or the same variety)

They're prob ably the same variety. I think I read that American gray squirrels were introduced into England, and they multiplied and became pests.

Grey squirrels Lanza, and served in some of the 'best' restaurants so I am told. Yes, they were immigrants from America imported over 150 years ago and have ...Er! ... spread! Almost as fast as rabbits!

Blimey - there can't be much meat on them, you must have to catch loads of them to make a potful.

I guess that eating insects would be rather crunchy, unless you could peel them like prawns in which case they might not be too bad. Wriggly ones though - well you can keep them!

it's what different cultures are
I couldn't look at eating "French" snails as such, BUT I love cockles and mussels, so not a lot of difference really.
Like anything eatable, you can't really knock it until you've tried it

that reminds me - there is a patch of wild strawberries at the top of the garden. I'm going to have to go and pick some, tomorrow morning, before the birds eat the whole lot.
ps it has just rained here, for a few moments.

Dandelions contain more vitamin C than strawberries. And you can make a herbal infusion with them and they thay make fairies too.
