Hmm.. I never had any. I have a lovely pair of black leather gloves trimmed with red piping at the wrist and a single red leather button closing the wrist. They are ever so dainty and pretty and go so well with my red coat
And when I was little we went to Vienna and Santa bought me a pair of white leather gloves with bunny fur at the wrists. I adored them. Rabbits scratch, kick, bite and pee. Rabbit skin is soft and cuddly!

The last time I was in Italy, I had a lovely rabbit dinner at the local restaurant, but it's rarely on the menu here in Ireland.

How weird... I mean I don't remember hearing that your short of rabbits over there.... : WE've a butchers near me (unusual I know there really arn't many left)...
Asides the useual and more common butcher meats, he's a bit of a game specialist so there are useually rabbits and phesants and suchlike on display And I think he also does quite a lot of his own sausages, some with slightly more interesting meat filling than just pork... the venison ones are good, and the kanggeroo sausages are too
They often appear on the menus here too in the local pubs who use him sometimes for their meat...
Plus the pub quite near me, run by Elvis, he's very friendly with a local game keeper... and his very non pub-like food menu reflects this... Actually he seems to go out of his way to ensure the menu is as full of weird meats and dishes as possible

Back on the subject of sports
Michigan has only watch to world games in specialized venues like sports bars while the local newspaper the State Journal
http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/sports
listed the World matches 24th in its list of stories it was following.
There was also a local precursor to the 2012 Olympics that was held in Grand Rapids http://www.stategamesofmichigan.org
which was completely ignored.

+ for Shagbark for mentioning the you-know-what
I think rabbit has the connotation of being starvation food for the older generation, which is a shame as it can be really delicious

I've never eaten rabbit, but mainly because it's never been on offer except as a dodgy-looking and smelling stew once in the canteen...
I reckon a squirrel pie ought to be delicious. Rabbit and ale pie in shortcrust pastry? Maybe a puff pastry top?
It's just so easy to talk about food...

My Dad always complains you never see it about anymore; I think Rabbit, and then fish pretty much accounted for the majority of meat they ever used to eat when he was younger... the rabbit poached of course, adn the fish was because they're right by the sea so it was cheap

mutton's another I'm told is good. Much more flavour than lamb but needs to be slow cooked but deeply unpopular because it was poor-meat. You didn't eat it if you could afford better.
But then I'm one of those people who is happy to get the cheaper steaks and chew a bit more because I'd rather have flavour than texture.
I really want to try ox heart one day. Huge great irony beef muscle that requires a good long slow cook. Sounds perfect for a thick gravied overnight casserole to me, mid winter, lots of root veg, with nice herby dumplings and a huge pile of home-made cranberry and port sauce?

In November hunters in Michigan talk about Venison a lot and what they are doing with the deer they bagged.
Right now it is picnic time with hot dogs, bratwurst, and potato salad.

It's nearly time for us to order our whole lamb from the butcher - (ready cut into serving portions of course) We just have a few remainders from last year's one. I'm thinking of getting half a pig to go with it. Mind you, the butcher told me which field the pigs are living in at the moment, and I don't think I will be able to look the mother sows in the eye next time I go past. There is nothing so happy looking as nice fat pigs, basking in the mud.

unfortunately my doctor says my triglyceride are too high to be indulging freely in such things so here I am eating tuna-fish salad and peanut butter

I love tuna and peanut butter.
I also love frankfurters, potato salad, and all things carbohydrate. In fact, i can actually have too much red meat... Especially in this weather. I start substituting cooked veg for salad and stuff like that...

I tend to be vegetarian at home, because Mrs G is, and only eat meat at restaurants.
I used to love Irish Stew when I was a child. It is mutton and potato stew and is grey in colour.

I ate rabbit stew once, a long time ago.
If you happened to live in Kentucky, you jmight find yourself eating Kentucky Burgoo at new Year's. Burgoo is a stew made with corn and peppers and lima beans and some mixture of whatever game is available, such as squirrel or rabbit or the various game birds. If these are not available, chicken is a good substitute. Kentuckians eat about a million squirrels a year.
