I must apologise to Lady Pennywhistle, I've gone and put the proverbialfoot in it. I have checked in a folder in my wardrobe and found a copy of the poem I printed off. A different lady altogether, no wonder you were confused by my posts. My deepest apologises Lady Pennywhistle for my Gaff!!!

I'm glad that one went down well. Here is one on a more cheerful note.


The Old Brown Chair

The old brown chair,
It just sat there,
In the corner of the room.
And the family, they sat,
As did the cat,
But its thoughts were filled with doom.

It knew its cruel fate,
It was so out of date,
And ready for the tip.
The cover was fraying,
Just plain decaying,
With here and there a rip.

The owners they thought;
"Years ago it was bought,
And now it has run out of steam.
It is ugly and grey,
Let us throw it away,
Buy another one-Nice, new and clean.”

But the chair had no doubt,
It would not be thrown out,
It decided on one final plan.
Its argument clear,
Its intentions sincere,
It would talk to them-Armchair to man.

"I've been loyal and strong,
And have lasted this long,
Some two decades I've been by your side.
I've never yet broken,
And so as a token,
Keep me here-In this corner I'll hide."

But all this was in vain,
As it was quite plain,
That they did not hear the poor chair.
But they did love it so,
They could not let it go,
And so the chair, it is still sitting there!

I can quite honestly say, I've got the best thread in town

Chances are limited

Dark is the night, wait dawns early light
New day approaches bringing light and heat, much needed
Fuel of the earth man hath depleted
Money no longer brings warmth
Look to means, without thought of cost
Animals die so you survive, at what expense
Time is on nigh the future nears
The only planet species is man
What of the food chain, ignored long ago
Now your arm is my next meal
Civilised man, who read and could write
Is a lesser mortal than Neanderthal man?
A millennium of knowledge wasted through time
Again history repeats with no lessons being learnt
I predict a future where the amoeba returns
The world recycles and land reshapes
A question remains throughout all time
Will man have a second chance

Did you know there was a time
when things I did would never rhyme?
Now I know just why I spoke
so people like you could take a poke.

I tried as I might
and boy, did I fight
to get you to let me
face you and see

No! Says you, as I did plea
Never again don't you see?
For you bleed me dry
all I can do I cry.

This was written a few years ago when I had time to watch Star Trek regularly.

Ode To Data

A couragous band of people
And a ship with a warp core,
Boldly go to where
No one has been before.

Flying through the universe,
The Enterprise and crew.
Its mission to discover worlds
That are strange and new.

In that crew is a lone being,
Of no human decent.
He is infact an android,
But is a perfect gent.

His name is simply Data.
His skin and eyes are yellow.
Despite all this he really is,
A jolly decent fellow.

He tries his best to understand
Us Humans and our ways.
But emotions he is lacking,
'Though he's tried for days and days.

He has pushed the Doctor overboard,
To try and join the fun.
He honestly was not to know,
That this just wasn't done.

He's a poet and an actor,
A genius I'm sure.
He has a naughty brother
Who has the name of Lore.

Of tact he has a shortage,
He'll say whats on his mind.
He will not lie to you, he is
The most honest you will find.

When things get too confusing,
For him to comprehend,
He tilts his head a bit and says
"I do not understand."

To conclude this Ode to Data,
I must confess my love.
The grounds for this devotion,
I have stated all above.

Wow. Are you really on the starship enterprise?

I am feeling a bit down. The verse I have posted were written in my youth. I was inspired, so tried to write some more but I can't. The lines have no rhythm. The words do not rhyme. I can manage a verse but not the epics I used to write. I wrote stories of events in my life in verse before and now I get to two lines and pause. I think I just cannot concentrate for such long periods of time any more. It's dementia. I'm going mad. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

no no no, forcing the words will not work, do like I do, next to my bed is a note pad, anything comes into head gets wrote down, no matter what time it is and then the next morning/day etc it can be viewed and worked on


leave the dementia to me, that's my excusewho are you again

London Pride

The bombs went off at 9am,
Scattered round London town.
They were placed on trains and buses,
Trapping people deep deep down.

London stopped-no one could move,
The road gridlocked and jammed.
And underground the tube was still,
Passengers together crammed.

Police, ambulance and firemen
Spread out around the city.
They worked to calm, to treat, to help;
Their resolve was firm and gritty.

We phoned our family and friends
To ensure that all were fine.
We watched in horror at the news
Or followed events on-line.

The PM flew back from Scotland
At G8 all voiced appal
"We will not change our way of life"
The Queen said to us all.

London has been through much worse;
There's been plague and war and fire.
Each time emerging strong and great
For London will never tire.

So now let's see us Londoners
Join arms and stand together.
There's nothing they can throw at us
That London cannot weather.

Now that is my turn to cry.. it says it all!! Thank you
