Alphabetic verse.

A poem can be written about most things
Beautiful ladies immortalised for ever
Caresses under a star lit night
Deeds of the hero wrote down in verse
Eternal prose entwining forbidden love
Familiar themes reworked over time
Gallant knights riding to the rescue
Heavenly angels descend from above
I worship her silently from afar
Journeys written from memories long ago
Kings and Queens have all been in rhyme
Lovers embraced in each others arms
Messages wrote from the battle front
Natures creatures forever remembered
Odes and poems the subjects are endless
Passion and love rule the stroke of the quill
Quiet solitude respects ones so dear
Remember in verse our childhood days
Simple words but the power they hold
True feelings expressed where one can not speak
Unending love like Romeo and Juliet
Valour and chivalry for a maiden so fair
Words wrote by man for peace in the world
X-rays rarely get used in rhyme
Yesterdays dreams and tomorrows future
Zoologists and poems could have a hard time also

Wow. I turn my back for a few seconds and all this happens.

Welcome Bedmechanic. Great first poem. Hope you're OK? I was going to make a comment about gritting your teeth, but that would just be cruel.

Actually gritting them didn't hurt


But having a root canal certainly does


Still right now I don't feel a thing

I have gone back to our original thread

The Room of Horror


I went into the house with the room of horror
My nerves all on edge with a look of terror
He sat me down and I opened wide
The butterflies dancing deep inside

He prodded and poked, I felt no pain
Then he stuck in a needle, then again
He started to polish, no pain to endure
While waiting for numbness to then ensue

A couple of x-rays should do the trick
The numbness is coming, I feel somewhat sick
He looks and he ponders on what he should do
I think that it’s time I should visit the loo

In with the drill and I haven’t a care
It goes a bit deeper and I climb out of the chair
A couple more jabs and I’m feeling much calmer
The drilling continues, did I sign a disclaimer?

I still feel the pain, but it’s more distant now
My mouth is now stuck in a permanent wow
My jaw is now aching still open wide
As his fingers are probing, deep inside

The torture is over I feel in relief
I think I could float home, on a leaf
But what hurts me more is not the pain that I bore
It’s the pain in my wallet, which hurts to the core

I’m on my way home from that horrid place
It is now that the numbness hits my face
Too late do I realise I’ve bitten my cheek
I go back for some torture in another week


I didn't actually bite my cheek but the rest is fairly accurate

It's called poetic license!

When I see a poet I'll ask him for one

serene green, that rhymes

thought it was blood, but its'not

ah, but green is blood to a plant
when looked at from a diff'rent slant

boggies on the sleeve
the sweet smell of summer
when hankies were for the rich
then sticks to your lip,what a bummer

The paper ones are just like snow
They pepper your lip where
a white tash grows

Oh but I've seen better days,
When I was free of this mucussy haze!

And I achooo in amaze
As out it all sprays
