No, it's all right. If I fiddle around with my PC again it'll probably explode.
Has anyone else ever plugged a 115V power supply unit into a 240V mains system ?

My mother fried her camera in Germany doing that... And why do you Europeans have to use so much voltage anyway?
Negotiations
Robert Posted May 2, 2002
Oh, and because we like to be unique. 240V is part of britain's heritage. It has joined the Royal Family and ITV Digital as parts of our history.
Note that all three items listed above are completly useless.

Well, we like to save power... Considering we use 1/4 of the world's power, it helps...

And what, may I ask, is ITV Digital. Now as for worthless techno things in America's history, let's start with AOL.

You like to save power? What? By using a lower voltage (and therefore a larger current), you're actually wasting 4 times as much energy to resistance in your house wiring than we are.
So there.

Besides which, a 1.5 kW heater is a 1.5 kW heater is a 1.5 kW heater, no matter what voltage you run it at.
Using less energy doesn't come into the equation anywhere.

I thought something was up with the "power saving", except I'm c*** at Physics so I kept quiet.
ITV Digital is (was?) a satellite provider that recently went bust due to one of the deals that it made with the FA (England's Football "authorities").

*Knock, Knock*
A zombie comes shuffling in with a trunk full of gold and a letter.
If opened, the letter will read:
"Dear sirs;
I would like to hire your Mercenaries to cause Massive amounts of Mischief at the Galactic Prison Fascility where I am being held. I will not pay ransom for Red Dog, but I will hire you to terrorise the Police. I'd like a campaign of confusion similar to the one on the Lurcher Fan Club that I waged against the Golf Police:

Telephone rings.
Um, If you're there, pick up.
I'm sorry. I fixed all the damages to the course.
However, the Police are going DOWN!!! They are DOOmed, what officer? Oh, nothing, just calling a friend...Gotta go. Just Ignore the fireworks...
See you manana. The federales are resisting my feminine wiles, so I gotta go make some moltov coctails and recruit a few inmates for the insurrection.
(Lurcher)
knows all about gophers, she can work out their trajectory to the nearest inch.
Does the gopher no good at all however, so we get very little trouble from them.
,however,is a different sort of trouble.

BTW, when posting h2g2 links, start with the ID letter, for example:

That way, you don't annoy all of the people who use a different design, or even site (e.g. 360) to you.
