The Siege of Galyana
Wargamer (The Wanderer) Posted Jan 19, 2003
*The Black Legion begin to pull back, allowing the Galyani to push into the Senate building itself. Ma Chao calls his Dragon back to him, and takes to the skies again. From above the city, he make out the torches of approaching Black Legion troops. The Correlian traitors are coming... In their midst is a massive cannon, crackling with magical energy. Huge orbs are being hauled alongside it on mighty carts. Magic Inhibitors. Ma Chao curses, and slowly begins to circle...*

::Furr Purrfikt rallies the Galyani troops in the streets and coordinates the final stages of quelling the tattered remnants of the Legionnaires within the walls of the city. Once the streets and plazas are secured, he leads several groups of soldiers back to the Senate, relying on those officers who know its interior well enough to develop strategies for an onslaught. Parceling themselves into fighting groups with diverse armaments, they begin to make their way into the heart of the building.::
::Meanwhile, back in the sky, Baileywick (who is practically high on adrenaline from the exhiliration of riding the black dragon) notes another dragon rising out of the city. He makes out the form of Ma Chao as its rider and wonders why he would leave the battle below. Baileywick scans the surrounding countryside and realizes he's missed seeing the new contingent of warriors and war machines approaching, because of his reverie. He coaxes the dragon to swing toward Ma Chao, in an effort to form a concerted attack.::

[[Ultima]]
[There's a green blast of energy, and all Black Legionaires within thirty feet of Ribald get blown up. Strangely, any Galyanans within that radius are unharmed.]

*Meanwhile, outside Galyana...*
[The Dark Lord] Our forces are almost upon the Galyani! I summon... [[Yojimbo]]!!
[Yojimbo] I am here.
[TDL] Good. Now... DESTROY!!!!
[Yojimbo] How much are you paying me?
[TDL] What!?
[Yojimbo] Yojimbo means "mercenary". So, how much?
[TDL] *&%$! Why did all my good Materia have to be stolen!? Ah, just prepare the Armageddon Cannon!

Well, you're in time for the End-game, Aeris, so good luck (we've all got more Exp. points than you, so we stand better chance of surviving). If you need Materia, ask Lampwick to redistribute Materia/Magicite within the party.

::Baileywick, working in concert with Ma Chao, rides the black dragon for an arial atttack on the new massing of Black Legionnaires. The dragon spews flaming liquid on rank after rank of the dread warriors, turning them into roasted flesh hanging from charred bones. Baileywick notes the presence of a very formidable individual who seems to be spurring on the warriors and war engines.::
[Baileywick] Aye, that'un looks to be in charge of the sitchashun. Come dragon, fly as stealthy as ye can and attack that'un from behind...
::The black dragon rises into the cloud cover, disappearing from view. It scales the heights, slips through the a mountains of clouds on a course away from Galyana, then wheels around and dives low to the ground. Hurtling with phenomenal speed, Baileywick barely clinging on, the winged reptile dashes upon the gathering army. As the last wisps of cloud trail away behind, it espies its target.::
[Baileywick] Oh, let yer aim be true, ye magnificent beasty, you!
::There is a tremendous roaring of wind in Baileywick' ears, the dragon's head draws back slightly then juts forward, spraying The Dark Lord with gouts of flame. The dragon twists sharply to the right, almost dismounting Baileywick as the heat of the incinerating conflagration washes over them. A large portion of the hillside is aflame and smoke is wafting everywhere, obscuring the details of the battle. The dragon, intent on another pass on its objective, practically hugs the terrain and follows the valleys in a circuitous path to bring it around to the opposite side of its last attack.::

*A shield of Dark magic protects the Dark Lord and the Cannon. Ma Chao tries to attack, but he too fails.*
[Ma Chao] Bahamut! I need your help!
[Bahamut] I'm sorry, but I can't help you until those Magic Inhibitors are destroyed...
[Ma Chao] Right, I'm going in...
*Ma Chao leaps from his dragon, and towards the first Magic Inhibitor...*
Those things are tough, and the Dark Lord protects them from Dragons. You need to fight them on foot, but they won't be easy to destroy...

::On the second pass, Baileywick and the dragon both note The Dark Lord still standing, and their hearts sink.::
[Baileywick] Look! There's Ma Chao! He's tryin' ta attack those war engines 'at look like greet big bowls. Oh, no! Whate'er they be, they be glowin' wid magic! All we can 'ope to do is keep the enemy off'n his backside. Carefully now, beasty; flame only the evil horde around 'im!
::With that, the dragon swoops down behind Ma Chao and clears a swathe of dark warriors that would otherwise have given him trouble. Flames spatter across the rocks and rills of the hill, engulfing more and more of the Black Legionnaires.::
[Baileywick] At this rate, Ma Chao will 'ave nary a place ta stand that's not on fire. Do hurry, good friend, an' do what ye must to help finish this madness...
