I always mention this web-site when people start getting picky over films: http://www.nitpickers.com
Go along and register - it's free and you can nitpick on films all you want!

Anyone who was witness to my putting the Guinness Hopstore on the wrong side of the Liffey in one article and myself on the wrong side of the Irish sea in another should know that I am directionaly illiterate. (is there a word for this? Maybe "compass blind").

The water thing was a reference to the price and selling of it here, where it is available in taps (Y'see)
Actually,on a different note,I got an upgrade from the microsoft website and in the system requirements,on the actual site, it has "a working modem"???How could you be seeing this without the modem?Or expect to download it without accesss to the internet?

I thought that was what you meant, so no offence, but as the question applies to the whole of the planet, it was an attempt to remind ourselves that we are a fortunate section of the world population who can consider a computer as an everyday thing. (I certainly visit H2G2 every day) But sometimes it does make you humble to realise that other people consider themselves lucky simply to have a roof over their head, a bite to eat or a drop to drink. Or warm feet, with I can relate to.
Perhaps we should appeal to the Galaxies for advice as to how to deal with the unjust distribution of basic comforts/necessities, as we seem not to be able to solve it ourselves. This pushes the question into the realms of ecology or even politics or philisophy or philanthropy and could then be reworded - Is there unselfish life on Earth?.
There is probably no end of material still available to prove, however, that the world is populated with people who are not intelligent and need instructions for everything from picking their nose to boiling an egg. So keep 'em coming.

Hmm, good point.
In the game "Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past", a character will now and then tell you something and ask, "Do you understand?" If you say no, they repeat themselves rather than actually explaining it.
Also, at one point a guy asks you a yes or no question. The choices are "Sure!" and "Of course." (Yes and yes, in other words)

I believe these replies supply ample anecdotal evidence to support the theory of de-evolution of our species. Of course, if everyone was more concerned with spiritual or intellectual growth than with capital growth, we wouldn't see so many absurd law suits. And isn't it odd that the court system actually allows these miscreants (and their attorney) to prevail? Has anyone ever sued anyone else for exposing them to the pain of enlightenment?

I signed a contract with an Estate Agent that I would pay for adverts in our local paper up to £25 a time. The first ad. they placed was a "double" one, and they promptly billed me for £50 + VAT = £58.75.
I contacted them, and the woman said "No, don't pay now, wait till your house is sold". I never sold my house, and withdrew from them. As they'd billed me for another "single" advert, I paid that one.
Since then, on a regular basis, they have been sending me reminders, for the first unpaid bill. I seem to be getting nowhere with them, I phone, they say they'll sort it out, then I get a letter threatening me with court action! Anybody got any ideas how I can get them off my back? Please don't suggest engaging a solicitor, I can't afford it, and I am awaiting an appointment with the Citizen's Advice Bureau.

Start a new conversation with this point, or it might get lost. -Look at the peeping Tom victim, she got no end of help. No doubt there is a solicitor somewhere out there to help you.
It just goes to prove you have to get everything in writing. (Sorry can't help - no contact with English law. But CAB is most probably the best place to go)

Hmm ... I once heard that a dental product comes with the disclaimer, "Do not use while sleeping". I don't want to know.
And the instructions on a box of Christmas lights warns, "For indoor or outdoor use only". Hmm ... does that mean you can't put them on the doorjamb?
