Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Posted Apr 9, 2018
I noticed this too late. It would have been apt to mention in this weeks Post:
Tom Lehrer turns 90 today.
Denmark's students made him their honorary artist in 1966 - just in time before his last official concert ever which he thanked the students with in Copenhagen in 1967 and which you can see here:

Excellent man, Lehrer! Let's drink a toast
"To excuses we fibbed,
To the papers we cribbed
From the genius who lived down the hall..."

To the tables down at Mory's (wherever that may be)
Let us drink a toast to those we love the best!
We will sleep through all the lectures and cheat on the exams,
And we'll pass and be forgotten with the rest!
Oh...
Soon we'll be out amidst the cold world's strife,
Soon we'll be sliding down the razor blade of life,
[Pause for painful laughter]
But as we go our sordid separate ways,
We shall ne'er forget thee, thou golden college days!

The h2g2 Post reveres Tom Lehrer's work, too - but could you please take the songfest over to an Ask thread now? We'd like to keep this a dedicated announcement thread.
There are lots of Youtubes you could post...

Just one more comment -- all right, two -- oh, heck, three (no one ever expects Paul's comments):
It's refreshing to hear Lehrer's mordant original version of his Dixie song, before he cleaned it up and made it less funny.
Dmitri, you *know* there are many researchers who revere Tom Lehrer. You could feature him in the Post, knowing that this would attract readers. As one of the collaborators who helped write the Guide entry on Lehrer, I for one would support you if you decided to do that.
The poisoning pigeons song is one I would tweak. Instead of doing in a squirrel or two, I would go after bunnies instead.
But go on with your exemplary work. I am almost at the point where I might read and comment on the Post regularly. You deserve a big hand of for giving me no choice.

Must read! Benjaminpmoore's poem will make you think.

ThePost is up! Our contributors have battled illness and injury to bring you the best in entertainment this week. Plus, it's Shakespeare Time!
FWR has a photo of a bucket of springs. If you have to ask why, you're probably reading the wrong ezine.
bobstafford has beautiful photography, and some camera tips.
Awix is funny in the cinema again.
Enjoy the cats. Some of them are out of this world.
Minovogonpoet has an inspirational poem on the subject of 'home'.

Weird videos. Shakespeare jokes. Quizzes.
Go read! Next week might be even weirder - the Editor's 'flu is conducting an experiment in sleep deprivation, which does not help the little grey cells.

Ditto.
I have to second that.
"Harmless" cottontail?
No such thing.
Mind you, free range chickens and migrating rats are worse.

The leaves on my neighbor's mulberry tree get stripped bare in the Spring, up o 18 inches off the ground. I don't know the bunnies get that high, but they do.

Most rabbits can reach that height standing bipedally.
The west coast giant hare or 'jackalope' actually stands and runs bipedally after its second season.
Otherwise, their paunch would drag.
