I'm curious to know if somebody has every had a dream that has actually happened, or if you've met somebody you've never seen yet dreamt about?
I can't recall it ever happening to me, but one time when I was 7 I had the exact same dream as my dad that my schoolbag got ran over by a truck because he dropped it on the road.

Yes, but only about the small things, like getting caught writing on the tables at school, and having to clean them at lunchtime. Wandering around the home of a boy that I fancied, (The kitchen was exactly the same)
Shame it wasn't about the Grand National, or lottery results

....I read somewhere once why sleep dreams can appear to come true, this was the example...a man dreamed his uncle had died, and was told he had when he woke up.....it can be shown to be coincidance thus:-
.
.....In a country of 100 million people 50,000 may dream their uncle has died, 45,000 people will wake up and find their uncle has NOT died so will promptly forget dream.....5,000 people will wake up and by coincidenc, their uncle HAS died, so think their dream predicted it, and remember dream for rest of their lives as a prediction.

I can't recall any of them ever coming true, though I don't think I want them too as I only ever seem to remember nightmares.
I've had things "break" my dreams before though.

I agree with footbacon, if I remember my dreams at all, they're either nightmares or just very confused rubbish, so I'm not keen on any of it to come true.

Exactly, who wants to have their dream of being brought a fillet of chicken with beetroot flavoured jelly on the side?
I have too much confusion in my dreams, I don't want that spilling over into RL.

I love having weird dreams. The weider, the better, I say.
I also like it when things happen in dreams that confuse you - like dreaming that you woke up and did something terribly important, only to wake up again and realize that you were still dreaming.
Lucid dreams are amazing, too, although I've only had a couple of those. But I don't think I've ever had a prophetic type dream. Not about anything important, anyway.

My older son has had two that I am aware of. The first, was a dream of plastic toys melting on a shelf - then the local branch of Toyworld caught fire and burnt to the ground.
The second one involved his job.
Both fairly trivial...

I dreamt my friend was telling me about having her baby at 4:30 on a Wednesday morning and she went into labour about that time!
She was a little bit overdue and it was the last possible Wednesday it could've happened!
I dreamt about a druidic assassination plan I foiled last night but I don't think that will come true.

I was once lying next to my boyfriend asleep and I had a dream that he proposed to me in Tesco's carpark, where an archery competition was being held. A few weeks later he did propose, but not in Tesco's carpark - and the archery competition was held in the sports centre as usual!

Some 40 years ago I was playing cricket for my house at school. I was feilding in the position known as longstop, the wicket keeper was a boy called Shale, and the first slip was a boy called Cooper.
A ball hit the edge of the bat and went up into the air. Shale leapt to catch it, the ball hit the end of his finger and went up in the air.
The three of us dived for the ball - Shale caught it. As we smiled at each other I told the others that the night before I had dreamt of almost exactly this occurance, but in my dream I had caught the ball. Both the others looked at me startled and confessed that they had also had the dream, with the same people in it, and each had dreamt they caught the ball themselves.
Stricly speaking only Shale's dream had come true, but 3 10 year old boys had dreamt very similar things, and each of us had featured in the others' dream.

I dreamt that I hit someone in a wheelchair while driving a van. It was a very vivid dream that made me feel sick. The next day my brother almost hit someone in a wheelchair while driving a van. He hadn't heard about my dream, and I didn't hear about his encounter till the next week. We both kind of freaked out once we shared stories and tried to figure the odds of that.

McKay, JEllen42, both your stories are weird and fascinating! When I think about it, I've had one and two halves.. The one that came exactly true, involved a local librarian (a man with long grey hair in a ponytail) coming into my living room, and begging me for Panadol! (No, I don't mean he actually came into my house, just that he had a killer migraine at the same time I dreamed of it.)
